I will give reply to all your questions one-by-one:
1. About INDIAN inventors: Srinivasa Ramanujan: a remarkable mathematical genius. Satyendra Nath Bose: the originator of the Bose-Einstein statistics theory. Dr.C.V.Raman: The Genius who won the Nobel prize for Physics, with simple equipment barely worth Rs.300. He was the first Asian scientist to win the Nobel Prize. Vikrama Sarabhai: One of the greatest scientists of India. Homi Bhabha: The architect of Nuclear Science in Modern India. Dr.J.C.Bose: The great biologist who showed that plants, too can 'feel' in their own way. Scientists in Euorpe and America wondered at his discoveries. These are just a few examples.
2. Yes, we would have been in the same position or even better, if we those Britishers did not taught us English. See Germans and Japanese. Do they communicate in English? It%u2019s only because India is a democratic country, and English is an international language, it became our official language.
I am not able to write all my points here due to space constraint, but please tell me one simple reason why do these American and European MNC%u2019s visits our premier institutions here (for R&D/Management. I am not talking about general tech jobs for cost cutting).
Also, It is not by accident that Americans are going to yoga and meditation classes to buy happiness. Every country has its own problems. It is for the people who belong there to take responsibility for change.

Hi Manish, I hv heared that there is a controversy re. invention of Radio. Who did it Mercony or J.C.Bose? But I am not even clear re. the controversy.I heared something on it.

Hi Irfan, In 1894 in Kolkata, Sir Jagdish Chandra Bose (J. C. Bose) invented the Mercury Coherer (together with the telephone receiver), later used by Guglielmo Marconi to receive the radio signal in his first transatlantic radio communication over a distance of 2000 miles from Poldhu, UK, to St. Johns, Newfoundland, in December 1901. Marconi was celebrated worldwide for this achievement, but the fact that the receiver was invented by Bose was not well known. Alexander Stepanovich Popov, in 1894, built his first radio receiver, which contained a coherer but actually coherer was first demonstrated by J.C. Bose. Popov demonstrated the coherer, further refined as a lightning detector, to the Russian Physical and Chemical Society on May 7, 1895. Guglielmo Marconi was an early radio experimenter. But although frequently regarded as the true inventor of the radio, the coherer used by him was actually developed by J.C. Bose, who was ignored at the time. Regards Manish
At last we have our engineering branch on par with International standards. This step should be followed to all faculties of education. We are thankful to Prof Damodar Acharya for his contribution for this achievement.
India is the father of all modern science we showed the value of zero yet it took a long time to recoganise our degree!!!! Thanks to prof. Acharya an ORIYA>>>>>

YEAH FATHER OF SCIENCE. Few folks from around the globe do one or two discoveries here and there all the time and BUFFOOOONS like you claim credit and rest of the Indian's. the watch u wear, the pant you wear, the car you drive, the TV you watch aren't invented by your so called Indian brothers alone, it is a global effort to advance science and we should be proud to be a part of this world not being Indian alone. IF you are sooo blatantly proud, then stop wearing and using all those i mentioned earlier and only use Zero's. People like you are the FATHER OF EGO...SISSY MORON
Only Engineers? What about any other graduates? Do you really LEARN anything useful in Schools or Colleges, which is taught /poured into ones throat by the so called Teachers /Lecturers(Who reads & teaches)/Readers(Who never reads but Teaches)/Professors(who never reads never teaches)? Are you JOKing? So what do you say? Tushar
We all agree that IITs are very good institutions. But i somehow feel they are thoroughly over-rated and a brand is created out of it. Agreed. Very bright students get thru IIT-JEE. But that doesn't mean that they are only intelligent or bright people in the country of 1 billion people as these people make us believe. Intelligence kisi ek yaa kuch logon ga jaagir nahin hain. I hope it would be good for us to realise this as early as possible. IIT-JEE exam should be given importance to the extent of getting admission there. Not more than that. It is very insulting, as they too are qualified engineers!
There are very good institutes of National Importance like ISM Dhanbad which has done a lot of service to the nation and their alumni have raised the name of India in various countries are undermined many a times by Media because IITs are overrated bt media.

IIT and IIM are oveerrated. Nobody knows, these IIT and IIM does not even ranked in top 100 universities world wide.

I think we must take a look on the achievements of IIT and IIM alumni before branding IITs or IIMs as overrated. I agree partly with Rajni that IITs or IIMs are not ranked within the overall list of top 100 universities of the world, but let me inform you that IITs as a group are ranked at number 3 in the world in a recent ranking done by the Times group after MIT and Stanford as far as engineering is concerned and this is a good indiacator of their brilliance. Moreover, Management education was introduced later in India than in US and other developed countries and keeping this in view, the rating of IIM-Ahmedabad , 63rd rank on the global level by the Times group is still commendable. Leaving the rankings apart , we must look at the broader issue of how to improve the brilliance of IITs, IIMs and all institutes of higher education in India to upgrade them to a globally reputable level. You must be aware that the funding which IITs and IIMs receive from the centre is far less as compared to the endowment s/grants received by MIT , Stanford or a top Chinese university .So , we must make a collective effort to increase funding for these institutes so that they may engage in top class research and contribute papers in international Journals so that their ratings may increase at the global level.

u may be right about the funding part. and i am not bothered abt the ranking as well. But what i am saying is that just because u have cleared IIT-JEE exam and got a seat in IIT doesn't mean that u have a upper hand for the rest of your life over other people who got engg degrees from some of the good universities.(i am not talking abt such colleges or universities which are blacklisted or where the standard is below par). The person is branded as IITian for the rest of his life. Thats not fair. don't u think so?
