India is divided in many ways and is being divided further by religion , caste and culture . As long as the people dont start to think of India as a nation prosperity is beyond our reach .. Shilpa shetty gained popularity that people rose in arms to condemn it (they have to realise it was not racism but two women hitting hard to hurt the other ) at the same time a couple of days before the condemnation i was having a cup of coffee with the news that many biharis were killed in assam and i didnt find any protests or any remarks because they find them poor .. We do have talent but doesnt know how to use it .. Its a big show that we dance to the tunes of the western world who are humming the raga of india being a new superpower for their benifit of opening up the indian market to get rich dividents ..India as long as being ruled by some stupid politicians getting elected in the name of caste and creed will never be led to the modern world ..

It's also the politicians who want poor people to remain divided and iliterate for their votes....India's future is bleak in the hands of our current netas..
Yeah, this is true.. The IT field is bringing so many things and creating so many oppurtunities.. even an Engineering fresher like me is dreaming of a startup in the coming months! I thank god for blessing me to be born an Indian.. I have complete freedom to plot my success and at the end of the day, I would be proud to have achieved something bcos its done by an Indian! CHEERS!! But possibly, all the outcomes should go in as inputs to the poorer people.. would love to see everyone in India happy!!

absolutely.. the wealth has to trickle down to poor people.
No matter what, it is imperative to be proud of our country. If you have this basic ingredient, you would yourself be propelled to do something for the country and therefore for fellow citizens. It is extremely easy to blame & point at shortcomings - even the most developed countries have them ! Singapore is regarded as a "police state", US is often accused of being totally immoral in values & self centred in attitude. The difference in in the type of negation. Yes, we may have "miles to go" ... bit what is important are we going ?

Dear Mr Shah...Singapore is not regarded as a poice state, strict fines are there so that people remain in discipline..You know Delhi Metro daily spend 4 hours just to clean up the chewing gum on the doors..There gum is banned on stations, isn't it right...Here jumping a traffic light cost only Rs 100/-..so no one cares, there it's cool $100..so they care..that's discipline...
It's funny when someone says India is becoming a superpower, India has such a poor infrastructure, it cannot be said..See the Delhi (capital) airport, it's so dirty & full of filth..See roads..there is garbage all over...Flyovers are illplanned....No power and no water..Poor..India can only compete with Pakistan, Bangladesh..etc..

I hate all this superpower hype. Do we want to become a bully ? The world superpower conjures that image of a hated ugly bully. Small european countries like denmark, Sweden, Finland, Switzerland, and Luxembourg are all rated much higher in most of the health and wealth parameters and quality of life than USA or Russia. These are not 'superpower' but life is better than in so called bully superpowers who are hated world over. So better to have excellant quality of life than all superpower hype.

india is not a superpower but it will become one in near future. India doesnt need to compete with pakistan and bangladesh because even if they have different flags and anthems and borders, they basically belong to india. India is different. India has been destroyed by the colonials and now it is building itself. If you have heard the proverb that rome was not built in a day. apllies to india very well. We have produced superior engineers, doctors and academians who leave india and work for other western countries. The brain drain is what stopping india's dynamic growth, But the left out indians will strive to make india the best.
Its old wine in a new bottle. DISCIPLINE is the key for indians. Neither politicians nor bureaucrats nor common man has learnt it. It would take another 100years for us to reach what developed countries such as singapore & US have reached. We may have mental prowess but unless we change our attitude we would see the brain drain soon.

" India do not have man like ruzvlet"( who has done significant infrastructral actvities in US). Infrastructure is bottleneck which stops us to makes us shining. We need substanstial effort to make our infrastructure better.
This to all of those Alok Pande. How many times you have taken effort not to throw garbage through your balcony when no one is watching you. How many times you have tried not to spit on the road? How many times you have bribed to make the normal paper moving process in an Govt office faster, so that you may be benifited?? Think !!! -Eshwer

Eshwer is right. Blaming others and expecting things to be alright is easy. Every individual has to make an effort. And it starts with YOU MR. ALOK PANDE - who ever you are.
One need to see the situation at our leading Airports,Railway stations,Industrial clusters & highways & India shining story makes you nervous. The mess at these vital installations for growth is a cause of concern. It is important that our ploiticians understand the urgency to improve this.TOI has highlighted the plight of Railways unhygenic existence under the Lalu regime in todays editorial.
You cannot say New India because India has still a long way to go. There are cows, buffaloes on the roads, garbage and filth lying on the road. Roads are never swept clean. There is sewerage water overflow from the drains. Villagers make cow dung huts in empty spaces. Open spaces are used for urination and defaecation. People spit on the raods and blare their horns in protest. There is extreme corruption at al levels. You call it New India. India is the dirtiest and the worst place to live.

It's all in the attitude of the people. No meaning in blaming the Politicians, Government Officials and etc. Politicians and Government officials are came from us only. So, if they are corrupted and not clean and not sincere means, we, our people are corrupted, our people are not clean and our people are not sincere. So, it's we need to change ourselves to move forward towards better future. We need to learn a lot of good things from other country people; not just copying Discos, hair styles, etc. Punctuality, cleanliness, trustworthy, politeness, braveness, etc. etc. etc are those things that we need to look into and learn them and change ourselves. Then only our country could become developed country. Just look at around India, other countries are moving very fast bcoz it's people understand the situation, they tend to change according to the need. We, our people are wasteing so much time in the name of discussions, meetings, court cases, religious conflicts, all bcoz of too much of democrazy and it's killing our country. Does any of our politicians or our people realize on how much we are wasting our time and money by having unnecessary 'yatras', 'rally', 'bandh'???? nobody cares.

Thanks to this young courageous Indian. I wish you enormous luck in your new life. You are right in that people in western countries tend to be selfish. But they are highly disciplined and if we imitate them in this, we will become a great nation. We must support anyone who wishes to change the status quo and offer constructive advice. The IITians who have started a party are on to something new. This is a promising start. But for us to start working to change the way things are, we must first recognize the defects. The high rates of illiteracy, child labor, lack of civic sense, apathy to the surroundings, lack of effective population control are all some of the more obvious problems. We must support NGOs and other organizations that work to eradicate the ills, and also contribute physically or financially to some cause. But it is a difficult task-our problems have multiplied along with our population. But I am an optimist, and I think our moment is now, and we can all work together to tackle at least some of these in our life time.I have traveled and lived in the US and France. It is with a sense of wonder and envy that I have always reacted to clean surroundings, efficient, uncorrupted civic authorities, and other first world amenities. I hope some day we will have all this in India.
