Dr. Ramadoss is a visionary and yes, he is a qualified medical practitioner(though it is good for the people that he does not practice medicine). He is a visionary in the sense that he wants to take TN back to the dark ages. He expects everyone to buy substandard, poor quality stuff from the local shopkeepers!!!
He also does not realise that when big companies like Reliance enter the market, they buy directly from the farmer and remove the middlemen who, otherwise enjoy most of the profits. The DMK govt., in its earlier term started a similar scheme called 'Uzhavar Sandhai' where farmers themselves could sell their produce directly to the consumers. But that scheme failed miserably because the farmers were not good merchants and also could not take the time out to spend their time in the market rather than on their fields. Companies like Reliance emulate that scheme by buying directly from the farmers and thereby ensuring that they get a good price.
The benefits to the consumers needs no elaboration here.
Ultimately, no company run retailer can put the local Mom & Pop shop out of business. We cant run to these big chains for every small purchase and hence they only need to reinvent their business model.
As far as the TATA project goes, it is Titanium dioxide (a chemical) and not Titanium (a metal). A Dr. who is skipped his chemistry classes???
Dr.Ramadoss has never talked sense, so it would really be expecting too much from him on this issue as well.
Ramodass has said that he is protecting his people and reliance is an outsider. What if reliance does the same. what if reliance stops hiring tamilnadu people or kick away the tamilians from their jobs. Will he then give them such high earning jobs ?
He claims to be protecting the interest of small retailers selling vegetables. Reliance also belong to our country, and have every right to do business in any part of the country. Let the people/consumers decide which one give them good service and at what cost, and then decide accordingly. In due course of time the business which is costly and not customer friendly will naturally die. Why to unnecessarily intervene in the natural process?
Similarly we have seen the efficiency of PSUs and Govt offices. Therefore it is better the Govt should not do the Titanium business, and if the Tatas can do it efficiently, let them do it. The State Govt may monitor and may intervene only when necessary.
His son also intervened a lot in AIIMS in his spat with well known Cardiologist Dr.Venugopal, and made a mess of everything. My friends in Delhi used to make fun of the Health Minister!.
I think this family talks a lot, all with the aim of catching vote banks!.

you are very right when you say the government should not interfare in business. The best will win.
And yes, in Delhi that fellow Ramdoss is not known as health minister, instead we know him as a minister for fighting Dr. Venugopal, as this is his agenda of most prority. both father -son duo seem to be big crooks.
PMK, the party which is floated from the caste Vanniyars and it is started for the welfare of this caste. Though Vanniyars were not backward caste, it forced to list in the OBC category. With this listing, now they wanted the reservation quota in central. With the support of other OBC castes and with the gaining momentum, PMK adopts new strategy in their politics. PMK now focusing on south which has Nadars' as Majority. As most of the Nadars' are born traders in retail segment, PMK is gaining mileage out of it. In order to safe guard their business, Nadars's will vote for PMK.
In the same way, one day finally PMK will talk about Tamil Language as top priority, for which most of the tamil people including me will become as good trap. Then rest will be the same history(story). PMK will have their own empire to rule Tamil Nadu with Ramdoss's hier to follow. I'm not showing a loud outcry, but i'm amazing how this politicians are able to win our consciousness. Still I don't know what happened to those party cadres who went mad and dedicated their life for this foxes. May be their will be bunch of people planning all this. Deadly creatures.Oh...Ok that's why we have Mr. Bush as President(headless chicken), but can't we have Politicians like Kakkan, Kamaraj, Lincoln.
Hats off to Ramadas for his vision for the future. This is why he is still in the second line always playing against something or the other to get something out of it. But in all he failed. He should know the difference between State and Country. Better he keeps his mouth shut when there is calm prevailing all over rather than creating a spark and gets banging from all corners. He should know his limits and what he says, he should be careful.
The minister says "I am here to safeguard the retailer. They belong to my state". Then who will safeguard the people, the consumers? Let the consumers decide. If they are not really getting any advantage, they will ignore Reliance. That does not need any agitation. Reliance cannot force them to buy and automatically close down their shops.
They are not employing slaves...they are the one who are taking india forward. This RamDosa is a idiot minister....What do you mean by our state, he is a union minister and this statement clearly says that there is no education left in him and clearly a forest guy.

Instead of thinking a long term solution to protect small traders, what is the use of banning these corporate gaints. One day or the other, you need to accept the fact that you can not avoid these gaints for ever. Better wake-up early and take a long term solution instread banning these corporates. After all it is the consumer who gets benifeted from these retails gaints, and who are you to deny us from accessing the best and cheapest through these retails gaints.

yes, consumer will get benift no doubt. but how long, read the interview fully and carefully. it is stated in the begining, it will be sold in cheaper price, kill the retail and fellow competitors, then after jack up the price, that time no one will be there to compete. it is another marketing strategy . giants can affort to pump in money for few years and kill all the fellow competitors including small retailers and have your say later.. hahahahha, it is simple as that. whatever comes in cheap need not be good for all and for the country, where those will go. these will create another social problem. we should see little ahead, all the best or good luck

Reliance Broadband is Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group(ADAG). Retail is Reliance Industries. These are different companies.
