I guess Innovation / Inventions are still little strange and heavy words for majority of us (Indians)...add a little bit of religion to it..the number of messages will jump from 12 to 500 in no time.

Yes, people tend to sensitize things. They forget to realize what really matters

description apt to Sony

How exactly your description of Sony agrees with my recent experience of Sony !

Recently I bought a Sony laptop and found that it has windows vista. When I complained to them that I prefer windows xp (since most application software for vista are still unavailable) they said they can not downgrade their operating system. The impression I got after talking with them is that they seem to think they are a great company and we can buy their products if we liked but they do not care.

The three points you mention certainly does not apply to Sony. You have said

Blinded by success, then blind to innovation

May I add

Blinded by success, then blind to innovation and people

Its an interesting incident you mention Yashonath. And Sateesh its not about Yashonath asking the right questions. In business the customer is always right. If you are not following that principle then theres something wrong with your business model. Today Sony has treated Yashonath this way, he might not buy a Sony product next time. He will tell about his experience to 20 people(and through rediff to 100s more) and that may or maynot have an effect of decision made by others. What all this means is that it's bad publicity for Sony and negatively effects Sony's customer base. And if you think this is too trivial for Sony, then let me tell you today companies invest a lot to ensure customer satisfaction and big bosses in Sony wouldn't like to listen to this incident.

You should have asked them before as to what OS they have !. You can always return in 15 days ! (unless they have 'goods once sold cannot be returned or exchanged' policy-the indian style !!)

Excellent insight guys. I was listening to a speech by ex CEO of A.P., yes Mr. Naidu during his recent visit to UK & it was like music to ears. This man was on a mission & that was to turn Indian's into entrepreneurs..He motivated the crowd & made everyone realise that we need to be producers of innovation & not consumers giving examples of the IT & what software professionals are invovled in etc etc. I think A.P. has a very bright future with both the ruling party & opposition thinking broad..
