Here are the preliminary findings of a new study by the Kerala Sastra Sahitya Parishad (KSSP, the People's Science Movement that was famously at the forefront of the total literacy campaign).Among several other significant findings on "How Kerala Lives and What Kerala Thinks", the study found that "the rising incomes" reported since the 1990s have benefited only a thin upper crust of 10 per cent of people consisting of the immensely rich and the upper middle class. Along with rising health care, education and social expenditure costs, poverty and debts have increased for 90 per cent of the others.
The 10 per cent upper crust corner 41.2 per cent of the income, while the poorest 10 per cent get only 1.3 per cent. Among Indian States, disparity was widening most sharply in Kerala, with assets, especially land, flowing from 91 per cent of the people into the hands of the affluent 9 per cent. The study found that there was wide disparity in the incidence of poverty among rural and urban areas, districts (high poverty rate in districts that had reported the largest number of farmer suicides during UDF rule) and communities.

You are another fool brainwashed by Marxists.
Achu is the worst CM Kerala ever seen, and EMS is the second worst. Even Nayanar is better than EMS. EMS Govt was a disaster for Kerala.
One more thing, this KSSP (Kerala Shastra Sahitya Parishad) is an outfit of some militant intellectuals, who intended to propagate Marxist ideology. They are neither for Kerala nor for Literature (Sahitya), nor for Shastra (Science). They use to oppose any development.
The social conditions available in Kerala is far better than any state.Keralites are much worried about the social development than the mere industrialisation. You can look at the last edition of India Today. In an article (I think the article named "state of states")there is a comparison between states. In that Benagl fell down like anything in all indexes of social development while Kerala ranked 1st or 2nd in the most majority of them. Look at this statistics. Keralas birth rate is 14 per 1,000 females and falling fast. India's rate is 25 per 1,000 females and that of the U.S. is 16. Keralas infant mortality rate is 10 per 1,000 births versus 70 for India and 7 for the US. Its adult literacy rate is 91 per cent compared to Indias 65 and the US's 96. Life expectancy at birth in Kerala is 73 years compare to 61 years in India and 76 years in the US. Female life expectancy in Kerala exceeds that of the male, just as it does in the developed world.I believe the traditional left in Kerala is solely responsible for that.
No wonder why Mr.V.S.Achutandan is following the same great tradition of 'Kerala-model development' formulated by Great EMS Namboodiripad.
I am the one who consider myself to be the most unfortunate guy, just because of being a Keralite. Politicians like the current CM in kerala ruins the state and just because of these fellows, well educated keralites has to stay away from their home to find a decent living. Politicians, especially the likes of Mr. Achuthananthan does not see what is good and what is right for the state, but which is proposed by the previous government and blindly say no to them. His policy is just to say No. i guess he does not know anything else to say. There would be a time when there would be hardly any educated people left in the state, if the government goes ahead like this. And, sadly, it is our own mistake to elect such stupids to power. And, God's own country cannot even be saved by God Himself.

if you think.. speaking english is the epitome of wisdom, then you are living in the fools paradise.. most of the idiots in the world speak english
Oops! It looks like Kerala's opposition leader Oommen Chandy have written this article. Rediff shall not allow such biased articles. Points mentioned here totally baseless. Now what is happening is that chief ministers in all the Indian states, particularly southern states are obsessed with the word FDI. To attract, FDI they seem to offer, anything which foreign companies want. All those people was thrown out of power, Chandrababu Naidu, Oommen Chandy, Krishna are glowing examples. India and it's leadership need to be concerned about her peoples health. If COLA/PEPSI harm their health, it should be banned. What is more important, people's health of FDI? Kerala's CM is in right path and people in Kerala have recongonized it. Author seem to be jealous/angry with his popularity. Is he an NRI who want to buy hectares of land in India??
You seems to be an average Malayali communist enslaved by the brainwashing of some stupid ideologies like Communism, Marxism, Atheism, etc. Grow up man!
This Kerala CM Achu is an uneducated illiterate, dumb, and moron. He can't speak even English.
This is a good article. I feel W. Bengal govt. is doing the right things which are beneficial for most of the people. I think CM Achuthanantham should change his strategies and come into this new world rather than being conservative.
