How can we cut oil import costs
by labrea on Mar 06, 2006 11:22 PM  Permalink

India has the largest number of cows on the planet, and have figured out how to get methane from dung(gobar gas) yet has done precious little ot create large-scale plants to extract his gas, and whose by-product(compost) will enhance agriculture. India is so poor because she is poor on ideas, poor on implementation, poor on R&D, and poor of will - only the greedy corrupt netas and the corrupt babus are rich.

Neither of the two solutions seems likely to be adopted, seeing that each nation has its own agenda and buying powers. India's best bet would be creating new fuel sources for transportion: elctric, biomass, hydrogen, etc, while devising eco-friendly technologies for maximizing her abundant but low-qaulity coal resources, including coal-bed methane gas, in addition to harnessing wind, solar, wave etc for power generation. This will need dedication and will on the part of govt, but which at present does not seem a reality.
