Marketing Revoluation, a 21st Century Mantra
by Purav Parikh on Jul 24, 2006 05:35 AM  Permalink

It was nice and thoughtful to read the interview transcripts of Dr. Philip Kotler. I was also inspired to see how big personalities in academic world such as Dr. Kotler are coming to India and recognizing Indian Economy as growth drive in coming decades. Certainly as Dr. Kotler mentioned, I would agree with the thought that Marketing Strategies would have more transparency element in coming period. World is getting closure and today's consumers are global and also their needs aspirations and purchasing power is pretty much getting global.

Marketing can't ignore the change which we see in global economy and would need to design strategies which are globally competent.

Rural internet penetration
by Vaibhav Rajpal on Jul 21, 2006 03:31 AM  Permalink

Hi, this is in response to rural net penetration comment/question. You might want to look at the success of eChoupal.com, a remarkable & one of the most innovative concepts I have heard of and seen work so well.

And I feel the use of "buzz" can be used to enter markets where corrupt officials make things difficult. Unfortunately, it seems to be difficult/expensive for commodity goods.

Dr Philip Kotler
by g.raman on Jul 20, 2006 06:31 PM  Permalink

Dr Philip Kotler answers, India's largest sector, the rural sector, will benefit greatly when we are able to make and distribute $100 computers to villages. The farmers will get more information on crop prices and what to plant. Families will get more information on health and educational opportunities. IT will effect a revolution in the rural area.

Before that the marketing efforts should be made to to the civil and political managers to make simple and decent education available for every boy and the girl in the age group 5-15 in the rural sector. Every effort is worth it.
