Airport- Privatisation -20 years behind schedule
by P. V. Nair on Jan 31, 2006 05:00 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This is already late by over 20 years... The govt should act fast and privatise, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkatta, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Bangalore airports within next six months. If employees protest, dismiss them without pension or any other benefits.. Surely these stupids come in line...

The delhi and Mumbai airports at present are good for shitting only... airports in Ethiopia, Tanzania are much better...

Do it fast Man "Mahan" sing

Mr Nair:

I don't agree with you at all when you say "The delhi and Mumbai airports at present are good for shitting only".

Recently, while returning to Chicago from IGI (delhi), I wanted to use the rest-room in the waiting area before boarding the plane but I decided otherwise because it was not good even for shitting.

Airport Privatision
by Raj Singh on Jan 31, 2006 04:53 PM  Permalink

We have seen for the past 50 years how airport staff functions on the airport. Anyone who feels like dictating the national policy and threations to stop essential services should be sacked and all the future benefits of those employees should be taken away.
We already have lots of unemployed people who needs job, so sack the GARBAGE and hire new staff on all the airports across the country.

Yes' you can privatised the airport but don't throw the airport workers out.give the good training to them.don't allow the out side workers in private airport.
privatise mean give the all income to one person (contractor),but don't give to the poor empolyees by part one.and gove.said we take care of poorer.how i don't know.

Should Delhi, Mumbai airports be privatised?
by Jaihind on Jan 31, 2006 04:39 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is very unfortunate that most of the people are in the favour of privatisation. I agree there are two sides of a coin but at first place people forgot that government is nothing but an agency/company run by people on the funds collected from the people for their own wellfare. So instead of expecting it to run or make it more efficient, they are thinking to hand over these oppertunities and all the fortunes in hands of few one who can only think about their own growth, profit and whole control about it that is monopolly.I strongly belive that government can do it very effciently if they are forced to do it and if people have proper check on them.If required government can consult indian premier institutes like IIM, IIT for opinion, analysis and its study in all respect.Or if needed most then they can take sloutions from patriot private practicioners like Tata cS, TCE, on which any one can trust.

My last question to all of you... Do you belive in giving oppertunity to any outside person to run your house if that person is more efficient than you?

best reagards
Jaihind

Sorry, I don't agree with you.
Firstly Issue is regarding airport privatisation. which has no parallel to your house. It is just part of your business, like people give their farm on lease for year/ season with crop sharing when they don't have fund to invest in it? or don't have resources.
Second - Looking at state of our airports and level of modernisation required, It is too late to give some extra time to AAI for modernisation. It is better to get it done for Mumbai & Delhi through private party and ask AAI to develop other airport matching the same?
Lastly - There is no harm to AAI employees even if contract for some airport is handed over to private party because they will get compensation or relief from govt. in all cases?

Hi Mr. JaiHind,
I can see turbulent emotions running in you when you speak of handing over your home to someone efficient. We don't need billions to run our houses and we don't let in foreigners and many Indians pass through our houses everyday. Your comparison is RIDICULOUS and IRRELEVANT.. Out point is we need efficient airports on the likes of Changi or Heathrow. This can definitely NOT be done by AAI or for that matter government of Indian or any private house in India. we need expertise from global airport managers and we definitely have to hand over our airports to them for modernisations. If I may have to follow your analogy, if I know that I will not do the interior of my house well, I will definitely seek an external consultant who will make it very pleasing for me and also for visitors to my house. You cannot ASS-U-ME that the government has all expertise to run the airports on their own, if they had had, why aren't the airports efficient now? Even Dhaka boasts of an efficient airport. Privatisation is the only way! I don't care about erring AAI employees who are good for nothing! Good employees will stay for sure! Only the bad go for strikes and no harm in losing them..
