RE:Should Delhi, Mumbai airports be privatised?
by Venkat Ramanan on Jan 31, 2006 10:43 PM

Hi Mr. JaiHind,
I can see turbulent emotions running in you when you speak of handing over your home to someone efficient. We don't need billions to run our houses and we don't let in foreigners and many Indians pass through our houses everyday. Your comparison is RIDICULOUS and IRRELEVANT.. Out point is we need efficient airports on the likes of Changi or Heathrow. This can definitely NOT be done by AAI or for that matter government of Indian or any private house in India. we need expertise from global airport managers and we definitely have to hand over our airports to them for modernisations. If I may have to follow your analogy, if I know that I will not do the interior of my house well, I will definitely seek an external consultant who will make it very pleasing for me and also for visitors to my house. You cannot ASS-U-ME that the government has all expertise to run the airports on their own, if they had had, why aren't the airports efficient now? Even Dhaka boasts of an efficient airport. Privatisation is the only way! I don't care about erring AAI employees who are good for nothing! Good employees will stay for sure! Only the bad go for strikes and no harm in losing them..
