perils of 6th pay commission
by rnraghavan on Jul 20, 2006 03:20 PM  Permalink

Setting up pay Commission is an accepted policy. There is a need to bring at par the salaries of working class in Govt departments. Though efficiency wise, they may stand for questioning, none can say the police Constable or Clerk in a Govt. does not work. Some departments like Railways, the Grade III AND IV employees in large % perform much better than Group I CADRE contributing for overall growth. If we raise the income potential low paid employees, there will be growth in economy, though it is a burden to exchequer.

All Govt. Sectors are not as bad as you thinking. You have given the example of SBI. My question is that in India lot of private sector bank has come and started business but SBI is still doing better than many private banks. Now the working of big pvt. bank like ICICI and HDFC is more or less same.

PSUs are also managed by goverment but they are performing far better than their private counter.

Do the Govt Employee work ?
by Yogesh on Jul 20, 2006 03:11 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Do the Govt Employee work ?

Can anybody answer me this ? Then why the pay increase.

The govt dept are the worst depts in term of serving the customers.

Take any dept I have an example.
National Insurance Company
MCD
SBI
are few of them.

Moreover, to disburse these increased salaries, the govt extracts the money by increasing the tax.

There has to be rule like private enterprises...no work ! no money or increased salary. Let the Govt Employees decide what they want.

Regards
Yogesh

hello my frined,
Dont u feel ashamed of ur question. Due to the govt employees only the sysstem is till under control.Have u read in many paers about the death of customers of private banks due to harrassements. Y there isn a hue adn cry for the govt employees pay hike.Whn a software engineer or civil engineer earns morethan 3 lakhs per month with that same qualifications but with more experience is getting only 5 to 10 % will thsi parity adn anomoly should be avoided.
If a govt employee is also paid at par with a private secors definitely the working nature and the skil to work will increase. So dont blame all the employees adn dont hue adn cry for the hikes.

Compare only the pay not the effciency
by Blasubramanian V on Jul 20, 2006 03:01 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The government employees want to compare the pay scale with the pvt sector employees. Why not compare the insecurity, the responsibilities of the Pvt Sector.

It is unfair to look at only side of the coin. In effect the unions, left & employees are demanding MORE PAY FOR LESSER & LESSER WORK.

The recomenmdations of the 5th pay commission of pruning the labour force, abolishing the redundant posts & linking of pay to performance should be implemented before making the 6 PAY COMMISSION.

The public money is meant to be invested in infrastructure, social development & education & not only on salaries of the Government employees.

If the government employees feel that they are getting a raw deal let them quit the govt jobs & move over to pvt sector. Who is stopping them?

pay commision
by Vh on Jul 20, 2006 02:57 PM  Permalink

Govt should seriously think about pay commision to improve the status of their employees. No one wants to be part of a govt organization because its very difficult to make ends meet with govt salary. This makes people disinterested in their work and its one factor which is amounting to rise in corruption also.

If some ministers argue against it, why they want hikes every now and then for themselves and all kinds of stupid reasons to make money and put into their pockets. Govt will not be burdened by this becuase if you keep your employees happy for sure they will work better and this will help the govt organizations to make more money

Govt. IS ALWAYS R???T...
by Deepak on Jul 20, 2006 02:55 PM  Permalink

Pay Govt. employees at a higher rate to enable them meet the regular expenses and BRIBE them again in the revised proportions to make them work.

NO Govt. fixes the accountability for in-efficient work force that we have in Govt. services, be it a sweeper responsible for desilting before monsoon, be it a Rapist police force, be it corrupt and useless Delhi Jal Board employees or any other Govt. functionary.

Good Mockery of democratic principle. ENJOY IT TO Fullest in Indian Govt. services.

Shame on you, PM!
by Babs on Jul 20, 2006 02:53 PM  Permalink

This pay commission could not have come at a worse time, when ordinary folks are queing up for jobs in the private sector and the Government jobs have lost most of its sheen. Shame on you, our PM, an economist and harbinger of reforms, for towing the left line. Even if the Government employees are paid no salary, they would still work for the "under the table" moolah!! What a shame! For every forward looking step, we take 2 steps back.

peril of 6th pay commission
by Rajiv Kapoor on Jul 20, 2006 02:45 PM  Permalink

There is no peril from 6th Pay Commission. It is only the gimmicks created by narrowminded persons like arun shorie. Whenever the question of hiking pay perks of MP arose, then where do u find comments of arun shories and chidambaram.
