i would say that the overall performance of the UPA is very good, considering the limitations it is in... i dont agree with people who say that all good decisions initiated is for satisfying a particular group, or for increasing corruption... these are the people who do not allow india to change... finding mistakes with all reforms... we should be able to applaud good reforms... and criticize the bad ones....we are already a decade behind the developed nations... why make it even behind...
it seems ironic that of the 7 messages posted so far 1 says that the writer is NDA and 1 says that he is a congress man. we can crib about how many things are wrong with our country . but i dont think that was the purpose of this article. has it delivered on its promises ? i dont know . going by what mr.iype has written id say about 85%. are we better off than yesterday? thats probably not the best way to look at it.
It seems that writer is a great congress man and nothing to do with the reality. Well I guess he don't use any vehicles. He don't even know about the petrol & diesel prices. I would like to inform him that prices of petrol and diesel are higher than ever before. What about onions (they made common man weep) I guess not the writer. There are more issues as well. They said they would give a fair govt. everyone knows how fair they have been in jharkhand, bihar and many more places. I would suggest rediff that they should appoint some good people so that they can check what is there on there website.
Forget promise vs performance, what are the negative achievements of UPA?
Thanks to the belligerence of Left parties, three world class oil refining companies have gone deep into read. Persecution of co-operative sector by gross negligence, partiality and politically motivated policies. Even a reference by the President's office has not moved the hot headed Finance Minister, who had all the time and resources to shower sympathies on Shiva Ganga Co-operative Bank. Unconditional release of blocked funds of Qudrochi, the Itlian mafia who bleeded the countery by unlawfully earning commission on defence deals. Bhiar fiasco - the details are in public domain and I do not want to recount them all. Reward inefficiency and corruption by ignoring popular demand to oust those with criminal charges. Browbeat the common man by unimaginary taxation policise - e.g. service tax on co-operative housing societies. Unhealthy and unethical rivalry among UPA partners, severely affecting national economy. There are several negatives which have minimal impact on the nation and I do not narrate them all here.
Hi EveryBody, Rural Employment Scheme means their will be money even if you do not get work, But like most of welfare scheme this will only breed corruption, Govt should have instead looked at why all the previous scheme failed and decided to find some decent solution to this problems. Also the POTA decision is cleary to satisfy the minorities.
