AAI can build great airports
by Carlos Meneses on Feb 01, 2006 07:22 PM  Permalink

AAI cannot manage the stinking toilets at most airports in the country.

Secondly we all know how shoddy are the jobs undertaken by Government agencies who never get pulled up because there is no accountability in our country.

Also government employees are the laziest in the country and hence they oppose privatization because in the private sector only those who work are rewarded and this lazy bunch will have transform themselves to be employed. But can a leopard change his spots??

airports

dear sir ,

it is a false notion that the public sector cannot build world class infrastructure. As a professional in India, my experience and observation is that for the last 4 decades it is the companies that are backed by the public sector that have done the nation proud, when it comes to infrastructure.

Look at the compaies like BHEL, NTPC, Railways, KRCL, IPCL, EIL, NPC, DRDO, DRL, HAL, FACT-FEDO, IRE, UPSBC, Jessop....and so on..the list is endless.

All these above mentioned companies have a major role to play in the development of our country.

There is underperformance in some sectors, true. but the problem lies in continuous political interference in the day to day running of these companies, largely post Indira Gandhi era.

Given the right people at the helm, good team to back them, the professional freedom to perform, these companies are virtual gold mines waiting to be tapped. With their vast resources, experience, and talent pool; there is very little help that needs to be imported and that too at a premium.

Modernization of Airports
by Vira on Feb 01, 2006 05:53 PM  Permalink

Iffff... AAI can make better airports, what the hell were they doing till now? Ok if they want to prove a point, I would suggest they take up the challenge with the International consortiums and modernize other important airports like the ones in Chennai, Kolkata.

AAI building airports

Theres only one question that comes to mind when the Unions take up arms against anything that is remotely non governmental.Would these unions have made the same noise if the Left wasnt in power sharing .? and if yes, one dares say they would have been yelling up the wrong tree. The nation wants to move and this socialistic welfare orientation has to go. You either get the larger picture or move out. Dont even try to hold the nation to ransom, we have had enough of this goonda raj for decades of stymied growth.

AAI can build great airports!!!
by Krishnan on Feb 01, 2006 05:28 PM  Permalink

If AAI can build great airports why not start with keeping airport toilets clean and operate escalators that do not crush and kill children???Were the last couple of decades not enough for doing these as a minimum???.
If this is given to AAI the money will be eaten up and you will continue to have such rubbish airports.

'AAI can build great airports'
by Vijay Kumar Kaul on Feb 01, 2006 05:22 PM  Permalink

AAI could not maintain the cushion covers of the seats in the waiting halls, could not keep the lavatories free from being dirty and smelly. Forget AAI being incharge of building world class airports.

AAI employees are a lazy lot and are black mailing the Nation state and making a foreign visitor to make comparison of India with Haiti and the Honduras.

Enough of your rubbish
by Avi on Feb 01, 2006 05:21 PM  Permalink

What is your expereince in building world class airports? Your only expertise is in erecting ROADBLOCKS for development and progress! Calling for strikes as and when you feel like! And playing vote banks politics. Why dont you atleast once let the nation move ahead?
Dont you feel ashamed and sick o yourself speaking blatant lies like this?
