Progress and national prosperity can not be totally out-sourced. Application of wisdom and innovations developed locally is the key to affordable and sustainable development of a particular area / country. We in general and mass media in particular should quickly learn to give more importance and support to these inventors and persons like Mr Anil Gupta than self centred, shortsighted politicians and babus.
commercial exploitation of interlocking bricks for morarless construction can go long way to meet shortage of skilled masons, reduce cost of construction, bring employment through selfhelp during non-agricultural part of the year
It's a wonderful feeling when we read such article about Innovators in Rural Areas. People like Mr. Gupta must be acclaimed by the Govt of India for the initiaveness taken to bring those information into the ligts. We need more Guptas to develop the unexplored innovators to bring their talents out and come out with flying colors. I strongly feel the Govt of India should take a note on this to develop the same as our Globalization already taking us to new heights and this will add another feather in our Indian Cap.
This is really good... The achievements showcased here could be much greater, if the mindset changes. People think if his child comes first in the class throughout his schooling, he is really intelligent. But, actually those people are intelligent who know how to do things, how to apply them. People must encourage children not to mug up things, but to let their creativity run free.
And I got one more thing to say. This kind of stuff usually used as space filler, must actually be used on front page daily and the killings and crime and corruption be left for inside. So that a person rises every morning to see what people in India are doing and acheiving not what we are losing...
Politicians of various hues right from the dawn of independence are doled out Bharat Ratnas etc. WASTE. Instead the greats like Mr.Gupta should be duly honoured, besides the rural and young innovators. Just a rupee as levy from each family in India ie Bharat, would suffice to contribute to their welfare and as impetus to them to organise their inventions for the benefit of the community at large. Sponsorship therefore is unnecessary.
this made wonderful reading. one rarely gets to read such stories nowadays. but the only way to create something more viable and widely used is to forget the bureaucracy, in fact not to let the bureaucracy anywhere near this whole thing is a better idea. may be the co-operatives (e.g. in maharashtra) can be used to give greater publicity to these endeavours. pl give us more such articles. sangeeta
Good englightening article. Work of Indians like Mr. Anil Gupta and others must be highlighted and as rightly said by him, the Government must acknowledge the potential of such entrepreneurs and innovators and encourage them. All Big things make a small beginning. The media rather than highlighting petty issues, must play a positive and greater role in publicising such efforts.
