THE BAN IN NO WAY JUSTIFIED! If cigarettes and liquor can be allowed to be sold, why shouldn't Pepsi/Coke be sold? Does any one force you to Drink Pepsi/Coke? Such illogical actions will only help dampen the prospects of the State in achieving self-sustainability in terms of employment. I think the primary agenda of the Kerala government led by a bunch of jokers is to ruin the state and create more unemployed youths to shout slogans and create havoc in the state for them. This insensible group of leftists in Kerala should better look up to and learn from their counter part in West Bengal.
I think it is a good start to maintain high quality of consumer poducts. Unless you take the first step there won\'t be any progress(i.e. Rice). Seems like all the above responses are from coke and pepsi employees. This is crap. If something is not rigt then It needs to corrected. You just can\'t live with problems. If we do not ban this.. then these people will take us for granted.
We regard coke and pepsi as piss+water, even somebody's urine might have some useful stuff for humans but these drinks don't. I even go ahead ban all the chocolate stuff etc. How many people know that these un-healthy products killed howmany indegenious healthy products?
The Ban on Coke and Pepsi is completely justified. The Govt. of Kerala should be fully supported for such a courageous act. It's shame that the author is able to justify the action these companies that have been dumping products injurious to health on the poor people and exploiting the ground water in the state.
The people of Kerala are strongly behind the Govt on this. Why do you think they elected the Govt. with such a huge majority knowing very well that Achuthanandan would be the chief minister? I don't know where he got the information that local panchayats are in favour Coke and Pepsi plants?. In fact there was jubilation in Plachimada and Kanjikode panchayats in Palakkad district of Kerala over the decision of the State Government to ban the production and sale of Coca-Cola and Pepsi Cola.
We should all be congratulating the State Govt for such a bold decision. Author should not have tried to act as an agent of Coke and Pepsi to propagate such lies.
Coke & Pepsi together hold the biggest marketshare in soft-drinks. They have all the means economic & technological, to purify the water & then use it. It is their criminal neglect that the pesticide levels are high. In terms of health impact, they should have been fined on a per-litre-sold basis. But they will just get away (for a 2nd time) to repeat the same error again. Do you expect SriLanksn Govt to ignore if Appollo hosp were to KILL a patient by negligence? Why dont you go ahead & justify the approaches Union Carbide took to run-away from its responsibility in Bhopal gas problem?
What does it mean. You mean rice or wheat or what ever produced need to be also banned because they are full of pesticides(more than 20 or 30 times than the pepsi or coke). Sorry to tell you its not
Its not coke or pepsi, It's govt who needed to blam

I don't know what Govt. is doing. Govt. organizations are responsible to have a control and check on the standards of any product not only coke anything not NGO's. An independent and autonomous organization should be formed which maintains standards for all manufacturing, food, and in fact everything, not always depending on Euro standards and others.
YES, absolutely. Generally public think the following: 1. Though it may be debatable that these so called Cold Drinks contains health hazard contaminations (pesticides, harmful chemicals etc.) or not but what price the consumers pay for buying these aerated drinks are alarming. The average price is Rs. 30.00 to Rs. 35.00 / Litre. But what is the worth? As to whether the consumers are getting any nutritious value, rather they are buying health hazard drinkable. Every sensible person can compare the price and nutritious substance with general drinkable like fruit juice, milk, milk products etc. Any doctor or nutritionist and even good books can confirm it. Out of the total money the consumers pay, major percentages (more than 90% goes to huge profits for companies; huge salaries to their Top Executives after all they make fool to general public, this is the reason that they are called as best marketing professionals; and huge payment to so called our Film Stars who mesmerise the public. 2. Strange, our FICCI, ASCHOEM etc. shout to support them for their vested interest. Mr. Mitra / Poddar, be ethical and atleast be human after all you are brothers / citizens. POOR FOOL INDIANS
