Its ur duty to make sure that the bank recieves payment by the due date, when u deposit the cheque u should hve done it 3 to 4 days before due date.
I recommend to pay it and be carefull in future, before paying call them up and ask for a supervisor and request them to waive the charges and also inform them that u learnt ur lesson and pa iot in well advance in future.

HSBC Credit Card - Asking for payment which is not utilised by me
by Guest on Jul 30, 2008 11:56 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I had received a balance transfer cheque from HSBC on 26th March, but in the wrong name (they had not followed the information given by me and put somebody's other cc details on cheue) which I immediately inform to customer care dept and got the complaint number also. The CC dept person told me to drop the cheque in any HSBC branch so the same will be returned to concerned dept. Since last 4 months I am getting harrassed by HSBC collection department to make the payment of the said cheque processing fees Late Fees Overdue fees (for last 4 months). I have informed them the above, sent the official letters to collection dept with a copy of cheque which is wrongly issued by HSBC, also given them the complaint number made by me immediately after receiving wrong cheque, but they are saying that the cheque is misplaced and therefore, they are unable to reverse all the entries, and continously asking for payment which is not utilised by me. They are not bother to check my complaint status, or not checking with bank whether the said cheque is debited to my account or not. Will appreciate if you guide me to resolve this issue as it is mentally harrasing me a lot !. My email id rajeshdk@email.com (Thanks).

non payment of credit cards and personal loan
by Guest on Jul 27, 2008 06:58 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I was in Dubai where I lived for almost 13 years and in the process acquired some credit cards and also a personal loan...I paid my dues always in time but one day lost my job and almost after 6 months of remaining unemployed followed by rising cost of living, I spent almost all my savings with no hope of getting another job. Finally I left the country without informing the lending institutions of my situation as I was afraid that they will hold me back and that make things worse.
Now I live in the US where I am trying to earn my living but not enough to pay back the lenders. I have received a few phone call from the collection agencies but the situation is odd that I just can’t cope with it....Pls tell me recourse these Dubai based institutions have against me?
-      Can they sue me in the United States?
-      Can they sue me in India (I am still an Indian Citizen)
-      Can they obstruct my travel to India, other countries and back and forth
-      Is there an agency in India which can consolidate my debt and pay on my behalf against a security?

Thanks

SBI Cedit Card Closer
by swaminath pandey on Jul 15, 2008 02:23 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

As per SBI CARD costumer care executive I paid the full amount on 15/12/06, they told me pay the Rs 29370/ then your card will be cancelled and you get a letter from our end that the card is closed, I paid full Rs.29370/, but after 6 month they are asking Rs.5,353.62,in that regard I sent a detail email to credit manager of SBI CARD but they sent me a mail that you have to pay what ever in the system generated statement, they are even not clarifying why ? Now after 18 month they made that amount Rs 12607/ and put my name in CBIL, in efect of that my personal loan get rejected from other bank. what should I do in this case? Do CIBIL has any kind of responsibility towards strait citizen or they are only tool of this kind of organization for harassing people? I have seen a programme on CNBC that credit card issuer bank will try to not cancel and create dispute to snatch more money so what I am facing. If once SBI CARD costumer care executive decided the full payment after that how they can ask for extra money.

High rate of interest up to 45% per annum - not good for Any customers
by Suresh shanmugam on Jul 14, 2008 07:13 PM  Permalink

Hi RBI Board,

I am a regular user of credit cards and one of a genuine customer. I am interested to write you on the high rate of interest charged after the credit period. It will be nominal to continue the previous 2.95% per month interest, where as if it was going to be 45% per annum looks so dangerous and it goes like a money swallowing machine. One who doesn't know or little careless may suffer very much. I request the board to order the banks immediately on reduce the rate of interest charged by all the credit card issuing banks over and above the nominal 2.95% per month.

Expecting a favourable reply.

Regards
Suresh

Insurance Fraud by Standard Chartered Bank
by Guest on Jul 11, 2008 01:31 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dear Sir,
I have a credit card from Standard Chartered bank. The bank is charging me a premium for insurance cover without my consent. It is not clear from the statement that the amount charged is premium for insurance. I only realized this when I called to inquire about the amount which appeared in the statement this month as I had a single transaction this month. I have asked the bank to retune my money. Bank says I have given consent for the insurance on phone. I have not given any consent to do so. Will you please help me to get back the premium which Standard Chartered Bank has charged me with out my consent?
