what if the quota doesnt get filled
by praveen on Apr 11, 2006 12:09 PM  Permalink

Every body knows even after relaxing the norms for qualification the seats under reserved quota doesnt get filled. at least the government must ensure the un filled seats are again diverted towards the open competition so that the resources created are utlized efficiently and effectively. how ever this doesnt happen? so where does this system of quota raj end. our elite politicians especially the congress must tell as they have been dividing the country on religion and caste right since independence.

Reservation just cheap politician using to inhance votebank
by RS on Apr 11, 2006 12:04 PM  Permalink

My question is are people from OBC and Sc are dumb creatures if yes then they need quata if not then give them the opppertunity for prepration and let them compite for the seat marit should not be compromised using quata only considration given can be that of age and reservation if shoud be provided it should not on the basis of cast as it affect the secular nature of our country but on the basis of people leaving under poverty line if so called supporter of reservation are really honest with there intention of upliftment of weeks then cast should be removed and only criteria of incum should be there as the quata will not help sc and obc but will only help High income sc and obc as today 55% of SC and OBC are earning income of 3 to 5 lakhs so poor student for whose upliftment the reservation is actually there is not at all help as they still cant get the facility of prepration which there cast people with high income are getting but what ever happen the selection criteria for both forward cast and back ward cast should be same

Reservations
by Chandana on Apr 11, 2006 11:37 AM  Permalink

I totally agree with the views of Mr.Prakash Amedkar, caste system should not exist in India and there should be no discrimination based on caste. I also agree that the poor and backward sections should be given all facilities but not at the cost of other deserving people. There can be other ways through which they can be given opportunities. The sad part is these reservations and other programmes for backward classes are populist measures for gaining votes.

The change should come from the people, the same backward classes should be realise that they need their own hard work and commitment rather than such favours from the government. India can do a lot better without the caste system and reservations based on the caste system.

100% reservation!
by Loknath on Apr 11, 2006 11:32 AM  Permalink

Dear Mr. Kelkar,

While every sensible person will share the same views as yours, for a change lets advocate something drastic. Why not have 100% reservation instead. Going my the fact that the quality of output will only deteriorate over sometime, the Amercian companies who employ sizeable lot of such products will raise to the occassion and might canvass for removing reservations, when they find that their corporations are being screwed by the creamy layer juntaa from Indian Universities. At that point, our Government will sure reverse their decision to please America (they never refused anything for the sake of America). Unfortunatelty we have been slaves of our successive governments and our prosperity in the recent past is at best a byproduct of decisions taken outside our country (Globalization by compulsion..!!). You won't find it surprising if our legislators from the "hard working kisaan families" come up with quota's for Pakistani's and other poor countries with whom India shares "common concerns". something like say Anti-terrorism quota of 30% beause all of India's good friends are terrorist breeders.

Reservation to OBC's
by Vig on Apr 11, 2006 11:30 AM  Permalink

How about giving additional 33% reservation for women as well.
This will reduce the total seats for open category to 17%.
The dirty politics can make our politicians do this as well.
Whats the point if a person not capable
of competing with the rest is given a chance. He wud anyhow not get placed,
if the companies which recruit doesn't find the person worth. Then the politicians
will again enforce reservations in private Companies as well.
And if thats the case the Economic boom which we are having now
would be reversed in no time.

Reservation
by Arun Kumar Pawar on Apr 11, 2006 11:29 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Reservation on the basis of caste & religion made discramination in socities. & because of this the tallented people are not getting chances. Reservation are implemented from last 60 years still how many years the general public have to wait. IF this is continue then that time comes when general public (Open) class become backward class. So this is the time of revolution . So come forward & Oppose all type of reservation. Because no political parties can oppose this only for votes. So the oppose should be done by public it self.Come forward oppose reservation.

Shall we have the names of shining example of scsts inUK and USA? If they can do so there why not here as well?.Meaninglessness of the arguement is mind boggling. Why do we need reservation? In education and jobs? Because the uppercaste scums suppressed all of us for thousands of years and so the child yet to be born in our toilet tissue dependent families will be psychologically and mentally chellenged and will need the toilet tissue to survive and we need this tissue for 1000 years as simple as that.

why such a hue and cry over reservations
by dr.parth on Apr 11, 2006 11:21 AM  Permalink

the very messege that is being spread by some "intellectuals"including those in mediathat reservations in premier institutes will ruin the quality of education is not only far from truth but also prejudiced against backward classes.students from backward classes and st/sc category though get admission through reservation, they have to go through the same rigorous training and have to pass the same exams for getting the degree.there is no reservations for them in the exams, niether they are given any "soft exam papers".so how come they are less qualified when they come out of the colleges after getting the proffessional degree?let me give you the example of india's premier medical institute AIIMS. most of the doctors belonging to st/sc categories are now working in USA and UK.there is no reservation for st/sc in UK or USA but they are not only surviving there but also flourishing.even the best of consultants in AIIMS belong to reserved categories .so there is no point saying that that reservation is ruining quality of education

Its sorry to say that constant hampering on the reservation issue by rediff convience that it is dominated by the higher caste.Virtually all the field are dominated by the higher caste people. If higher caste people is asked about anhilation of caste no one comes forwards as it would anhilate their dominance. On one side your are challegin the reservation for OBC on other hand you dont want to challenge reservation in hindu religion.

Reg the reservation
by Dharamvir Singh on Apr 11, 2006 11:19 AM  Permalink

As far as I'm concerned, I think that their should be no reservation. I'd rather like to say that their should be no reservation because due to reservation in higher studies institutes the students who deserve to go in these institutes will be bared to get in & those who are not desreved will get in. It will create a brain drain in our country & the growth which our country had attains, will be fall & once agin we will start our fight to reach in the position. Why the hell govt wants to increase the reservation. To only increase its vote bank so that it can win again in the next elections. Theses politicans will not get affected by this becaue they do not take care of country & new generation. Their children in any will manage to get in these institues for highrer studies ( if they want to prefr to study in India, but normaly they prefer to study abroad because these politicians have a huge amount of money which they had stocked in their active life & they can afford to spend it on their children) but what about the comman men, a middle class people. These peple will not able to stand nowhere their chigo to hell & their childdren have to struggle in hard.
