why such a hue and cry over reservations
by dr.parth on Apr 11, 2006 11:21 AM

the very messege that is being spread by some "intellectuals"including those in mediathat reservations in premier institutes will ruin the quality of education is not only far from truth but also prejudiced against backward classes.students from backward classes and st/sc category though get admission through reservation, they have to go through the same rigorous training and have to pass the same exams for getting the degree.there is no reservations for them in the exams, niether they are given any "soft exam papers".so how come they are less qualified when they come out of the colleges after getting the proffessional degree?let me give you the example of india's premier medical institute AIIMS. most of the doctors belonging to st/sc categories are now working in USA and UK.there is no reservation for st/sc in UK or USA but they are not only surviving there but also flourishing.even the best of consultants in AIIMS belong to reserved categories .so there is no point saying that that reservation is ruining quality of education
