by Gopal Prasad Mittal on Apr 11, 2006 12:39 PM  Permalink

The single resposible factor is corrupt political system and corruption in public life at large. Otherwise a country having all natural resources should have highest life quality in world.

Its a natinal shame and a disgrace that our Political and Financial Capitals are 150 behind not only the cities ofdeveloped nations but also most of the developing Nations. It speaks volumes of our National Character and outlook.Nothing short of drastic but unpopular measures can imorove this poor state, such as being undertaken in Delhi under the directions of the Apex Court.Unfortunately, vested interests led by the present politicians are the biggest culptits and are using all the power they have to stop this desirable resuscitation of the Capital.

by Vijay Ganjoo on Apr 11, 2006 08:28 AM  Permalink

The unfortunate aspect of this condition is that it is the people who are happily living like that.,, If somebody is not ready to wash his face,, how do we expect such people living a clean life...Corruption, illetracy and dirty living is the mindset of the people of this country... Only God can help us...

Nothing to be surprised at
by Madhab on Apr 11, 2006 03:51 AM  Permalink

After having experienced life in Bangalore, this survey is nothing surprising for me. Life in India does suck a lot. Even commuting to Office is a nightmare in India. If one starts listing the kind of difficulties that he/she faces everyday in India, the list woould go endless.

Why am I not surprised?
by Arif Moinuddin on Apr 11, 2006 12:55 AM  Permalink

This is what happens when you divert all your funds unevenly. No single city in the WORLD can accomodate a population of 1 billion. It's high time our planners realized India just isin't Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai...

Quality of Life
by T.P. Viswanathan on Apr 10, 2006 11:15 PM  Permalink

Nothing surprising in the findings. People living under constant threat and fear from violence of all sorts. Essential services like power nd water at a premium, thanks to nepotism, corruption and lack of civic sense on the part of the very same people who are supposed to be the custodians. Women and children are exploited and violated. Patriotrism is at a premium and even a small section of the armed forces unconscionably pilfer and sell official / military secrets. Looters and other criminals having right connections get scot free and innocent people are put to untold miseries. Politicians eager to perpetuate their hegemony often take controversial and questionable decisions affecting the masses and and the country's progress and integrity. God save the country and its people.

Quality of life

No surprises as far as Indian cities are concerned. The wretched infrastructure & woeful governance, add a corrupt executive and the political indifference, and 150th rank is what you get. I'll be surprised if Mumbai or Delhi breach into top 100 in next 50 years!!!
