Lesson learnt. Now what are we going to do ?
by India WellWisher on Sep 24, 2005 07:19 AM  Permalink

It's a great acheivement by the group of farmers,
who started this.

Why isn't our Government support/advise similar
kind of business practises in other areas. And
Why can't we have such "Amul"'s in every state.
Why can't we apply this concept for other products.

Let the producers of raw material and consumers of
end product be the owners of such organisation.
When the company gets more profit, producer will get
good price for his raw material & consumer can buy
the product cheaper than before.

Why is the governemnt reluctent to take such
initiatives?. Are there any smart minister's who
can give serious thoughts about this ??

If India could take such initiatives, in years we'll
be a developed nation.

Thanks.

Good ethics didn't spill the milk!
by Michael Fernandes on Sep 23, 2005 04:57 PM  Permalink

Very good analysis. One glaring omission... the high ethical standards of Dr Kurien (and the early leadership) have been missed out. If it were not for this sense of ethics (his life wasthreatened in the start-up), Amul would have become another CIDCO (or Enron!) with a cesspool of corrupt 'leaders'. India doesn't lack brains or resources, we lack commitment to truth & fairplay!!!

The man who made it.
by Mrs Anna Mathew on Sep 23, 2005 04:12 PM  Permalink

The extraordinary story of Amul has NO reference to the man who made it.ie Amul Kurien !! It is like a man telling his father or mother "You are not my parent"
Such crass ingratitude.

The Extraordinary Story Of Amul
by M.K.Subramanian on Sep 23, 2005 03:57 PM  Permalink

I have read many articles on the secrets behind the AMUL success. This is the first I have read with no mention of even the name of the man who is called the Father of the White Revolution in our country. Quite extraoridary indeed.

Kurien?
by Amulya on Sep 23, 2005 02:29 PM  Permalink

In view of his immense contribution to this enterprise, it is surprising that Kurien's name has been left out of this article
