Middle class was always there
by Ayondeep on Jul 03, 2005 01:10 AM  Permalink

Middle class was always there. It didn't arrive from anywhere, but it has suddenly become noticeable though, because of the great success achieved by bright students from so called middle class .Talking about numerical strength (300 million approx), has the ratio (middle class/higher class/poor class)really changed in over last 20 years? Does anybody has any comparitive figure?

Also judging standard of living of Indian people with that of west is not a good practice. Primary needs are different in both world. It sholudn't bother that India still sells 25 million bicycles and most people watch b&w TV. The day we stop chasing western standard of living, half of our miseries will end. Do the basics right, like the west has done in their time. For example to keep our surrounding clean does not need state of the art technologies and PhDs to understand its importance.

Sorry for the divertion from the topic. What I want to say is, the middle class strength of India comes from its strongly bonded family structure, which the west lacks.Keep that culture alive and stop being copy cats of west.

Middle Class...

What Middle Class? 99% of India's woes are directly relalted to poor governance, antiquated and stupid policies-regulations, lingering socialist ideology, and especially the intransigent traitorous communist front which aims to destroy India's economy, thus creating chaos and anarchy to get in power and install a totalitarian communist govt - that is thier agenda for blocking all labour and economic reforms.

Garbage Class
by Indian Lover on Jul 02, 2005 06:52 PM  Permalink

So you are saying we have 30% middle class? I dont know how you framed that..I have some statistics..In India 21% of population has proper sanitation..So even if we consider that 30% population is middle class, that means 9% of that middle class lives in garbage. 25% has proper flowing water connection. So 5% goes to pond to get water. 10% of population have proper electricty access. 20% lives in darkness. What you foget to tell is that in last few years social investment in water, sanitation, education, poverty alevation, health has declined.Let me tell you we cant be a modern society, neither we can be called developed country when we have scarcity of what I discussed. So next time, you write article dont forget to write about the problems of us, real middle class!!..
