If India use time and resources compression technologies it can be giant of giants
by Dr. Ashish Urkude on Jan 21, 2005 09:10 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

If India use time and resources compression technologies it can be giant of giants in 2020 and not in 2035.
Yes. It is a fact.
I already have contacted Hon. Presidentji Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam over this matter.
India can become gian in Automobile Technolgies,
Computer Technologies, Medical Technologies, Space Technologies, Agricultural Technolgies, Military Technolgies, Infrastructure and what not.
Provided we use all our resources and technolgies judiciously.
About Time and Resources compression technolgies, I'll give example of Drawing of the Autombile part. If you draw it with hands it takes hours while if we draw using Auto-CAD or ProE it can be done in few minutes. Similarly using human excellence, i.e. the master or skilled worker will do his job, this strategy can make India a powerful nation in all the above mentioned fields.
Also if world is working on Nano Technologies then India must work on Quark Based Technolgies which I developed which is One Million times smaller than Nano Technologies. Thus,by the time World is master in Nano we'll be master in Quark Based Technologies. Thus, after few years India will be far ahead than the world.

If this happens or that happens, may be interesting but not very useful. It is far more likely that war, disease and environmental factors will play a much larger role than technologies in Asia.

Stability will become an increasingly important factor in world trade. As resources dwindle (especially oil) so does stability. The U.S. has proved they are willing to lay waste to other parts of the world in order to meet their narrowminded goals. ie hiroshima/nagasaki, korea, vietnam, iraq, afganistan and the list goes on and on. In the past England, Spain, France and many others have enjoyed periods of superiority. In which they have proceeded to destroy others to get what they want.

With India and China gaining power. What are we to expect of them in the coming decades? More of the same?...of course

India a giant economy by 2035!
by KGR on Jan 21, 2005 08:54 PM  Permalink

What a stupid article ! How can you print this ? The author gives no reasons or proof for his arguments, it is like one guy in the street comes and tells "hey, you know what, india is going to be the no 1 economy in 2035 and you better agree to that because i am telling it"

rediff, you too should stop falling prey to sensationalism if you have to become a reliable journalism source

some overlooked issues
by sriram on Jan 21, 2005 07:42 PM  Permalink

I think this article overlooks some fundamental issues when we talk about building large economies. I doubt if we are on any policy track to be a gobal superpower. Consider some of the well known reports on oil supplies. Both china and India are known to have become oil guzzlers. More countries are getting into the fray. I think India lacks the agression on policy front that the US,Russia, china and other countries have shown. Many reports have suggested that the world oil supplies will collapse by 2050. (or near that)

We need some solid alternative energy research and policies to become a global power. Reduce reliance on oil if we ever dream of becoming such a nation. While as an Indian this report seems to strike the right cord with me I think this report seems to lack the analytical rigor. If any analysis has been made at a strategic level I would love to see rediff publish on how the government plans to grow the economy. All I want to say is let us not get too carried away as we do not see how India can do this atleast in the popular press. !!!

India a Giant Economy by 2035
by Vikrant Athavale on Jan 21, 2005 05:57 PM  Permalink

Its a good article and has really taken all the aspects into consideration.
But we need to consider the latest the occupation of America in Iraq.
This misadventure is going to cost a lot, if this continues America will be loosing lot of its reserves. Secondly the Chinese and the Japanese has their major exports to US. If at all the US economy shaken there will be direct effect of this on the Chinese and the Japanese industry. If such a thing happens then we would be seeing a big economic difference in the above article.
This is where India stands a better part as we are still under developed our resources though full are not matching the Demand and supply equations. The threat of the Chinese supplies are been recognized by everyone and I dont think any European country will be making such a mistake like the US to be completely dependent on the Chinese or will be allowing the Chinese to take over the European market.
It would be too early to predict as the next few month will be changing the destiny of most of the countries.
Lets hope for the better.

India a giant economy-Boon/Bane
by G.Sathyanarayana on Jan 21, 2005 03:09 PM  Permalink

India is poised to grow to giant economy. However the growth will be consumption driven, which is not a reflection of conscious driven development and corresponding human well being of the country's populace. This means a disorderly society sewed with growth and development of random nature when applied to measure the growth and development of country's population in terms of informed choice of growth and development pattern and the parameters that helped the growth and development of the context subject(s).
Hence, if India's leap to become a giant economy (by the year 2035) is certain, it is high time that a professional and ethical governance for the country will be in place, which ensures 100+ crores population will not lead to a scenario where body bags/human suffering and misery do not become a matter of fact and cilly attributes to think or act about.
