Peace with Pakistan
by venu sense on Aug 15, 2007 01:38 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Peace with pakistan is a myth. Some fringe players like siddiqa and nayar can not change any thing. The so called people to people contact and other CBM's are only time gaining tactics by the pakistani military establishment. They will launch another new offensive at a time of their choice. We should never lower our guard and be very vigilent. We do not aspire even one inch of their territory and will not give one inch from what is ours today.
As long as pakistan exists it will be an problem for India.

Kuldip Nayar is senile
by Prem Bodagala on Aug 15, 2007 12:51 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

People like Kuldip Nayar place their misplaced South Asian utopia above the interests of India. Soft borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh would mean millions of people who do not share India's sense of moral values pouring into the country and destablizing the country. We already have a full blown problem of Bangladeshi migration. Now this senile old fool wants to do the same with Pakistan and moreover legalize it. Can you imagine the destruction to both our economy and civil society? People with any sense of a reality compass have to vehemently fight against this notion of soft borders. Ask yourself this, what benefit are soft borders to Indians. They will only benefit Pakistanis or Bangladeshis. What Jinnah could not achieve at partition, people like Nayar will achieve for him. Pakistanis and Bangladeshis must be chuckling at the stupidity of Indians. Moreover soft borders with them means that India is placing itself in the crucible of Islamic terrorism. What would stop Taleban crossing over to India using the softborders they themselves have with Pakistan? The sooner mental cases like Nayar are ignored the better. India was never a harmonious country with a militant Islam playing a big role. Partition allowed us to quieten this militant political Islam and keep it under check. If it is allowed to get out of the bottle again, non-Muslims will be ruined. Muslim league acted like thugs to get their own way. Same will happen again. Keep the status quo.

Do you know what uniform civil code is and why it was not implemented in India at the first place?

I earnestly request Mr Kuldip Nayar to go to Pakistan along with his young grand daughters (because his daughters might have become old), his young grand sons wives and other relatives having young ladies and live in Pakistan for three years and come back to India (provided they are not raped and converted to Islam) and propose a common border with Pakistan!

Mr. Nayyar we respect you but....................
by SLVP on Aug 15, 2007 12:46 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Mr Nayyar your type of senior journalist's thinking, ( with due respect and regards to your experience ) is dreamy, nehruvian- idealism-like , with emotional baggage (understandable), especially when its comes to pakistan or partition-days history.
We had 3 wars within 60 years, everytime first attacked by pakistan.
There is no stable democracy, so no consistent line of thinking, a heavy dominance of military rule and islamic fundamentalism.
That leaves very little political space for people of pakistan in political space.
Plus pakistani awam has costantly being fed on anti-indianism.
So India has to be most rational and absolutely ruthless and keeping India interest at the top.
Otherwise it will be like what CHINA did to Pt. NEHRU after HINDI-CHINI BHAI-BHAI.

Uniform Civil code is related to law, do you abide by law? Have none of your family member ever taken dowry? I not, then what is the point of fighting for personal laws to be same? Criminal laws and other laws which are 90% are same anyway. The more important is removing of Article 370.

Would be interesting to ask Sharukh if he ever divorces his hindu wife whether he will follow Shariat laws in which less than 50% of the family's earnings will go to his wife.. That's injustice and we want UCC to change this crap..

Misconceptions
by sisir majumder on Aug 15, 2007 11:06 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The misconceptions about the pakisthanees and Indians can be removed by mutual understandings though exchanges of nespapers, books,Television programmes, and free visit of common people for both the countries. Common people are eager to create a bond of peace, friendship, unity of common interest etc etc. Both the Govt. should take necessary steps to restore peace and amity.

Please remember you can never change a Muslim. He is dedicated to spread Islam and what he is having from his point of view is not a misconception. We cannot have any truck with Muslims. Our fools are trying to have a pipeline from Iran through Pakistan. Then you all will know that you can not believe them in business or in any matter on earth.
