Look at the advertisements in TV during a cricket match flooded with advertisements most viewers will abhor to see in their drawing room with children. Air fares shown at Rs.74/- excluding tax of Rs.2975/-. Look at executive salaries of .0001% people on TV when majority lives on less than Rs.50/-a day. Look at IPL and simultaneous food price rise which are managed by the same man who can not be touched. This is a part of India common man wish to wash away but can not.
That is absolutely true and actually so and they want to move ahead. These young brains have all the knowledge and the knowhow to proceed but the older lot are holding on blocking their view and from proceeding further. We all have to live and let live but for heaven's sake do not over live thereby causing a blockage for the younger ones who are waiting and wanting to come up in life and rightly so as they have the brains as I said, they have the character, the vision to improve the world and make it a better place to live in. No doubt they do need guidance to go ahead, but can they wait? definitely not and for how long. They do not want to spoil their vision and what they can do the betterment of the world where black, white, yellow, red all can live together making the world a cleaner and yet a better place to live in with patience, politeness, cleanliness, tolerance of religions etc. Hats off for today's generation who have the vision and should be allowed to go ahead with their dreams provided all this is in the right direction for the betterment of the world. The poor are often looked down upon - why? because the rich want to get richer without any pity or consideration for the poor and marginalised. Needless to say the Rag pickers who keep the cities clean, even their children want to improve themselves and go ahead with the little knowledge of education they are provided with and blessed with in their poverty and patience to improve. Their view should not be blocke
Every generation learns the limits of "sensuality" and "materialism" - some learn it the hard way, some the easy way. By nature, humans are acquisitive - want to acquire pleasure, want to feel they own good things of life. The problem is humans think, they would be "happy ever after", once the car, flat, a lovely spouse, great office to work in, great holidays in the hills - all fall into place. The truth is LIFE FORCE keeps moving off and away from what you have got. You begin to notice problems with the car, flat, spouse, office and the expensive holidays in the hills. That is the interface between humans and materialism. Excessive sensuality, you soon kill yourself or kill someone else while drunk. Oh boy!! Remember all the wierd cases in the Metros? The solution: A genuine attachment to knowledge, spending time to become an expert in one's chosen field - NEVER MIND THE REWARD. Just be happy in yourself to be an expert. A true awareness that one's mental and emotional health are the most important. Whatever your religion, a familiarity with the Upanishads and Bhagavad Gita - if you are muslim, read these works in secret without your fellow-muslims or the Mullah knowing you are reading them. They are spiritual food for ALL ADULT HUMANS. They are there to benefit every human, no matter his or her religion.

Thanks Vijay, or whoever you really are!!- for your suggestion. I have read the Quar'on, right in front of my friends and relations. They did not scold me or put a knife into me. Because they believe, as I do, "Let noble thoughts come to us from all directions" - Rig Veda.
"Asathor Ma Sat Gamaya" "Thamasor Ma Jyothir Gamaya" "Mrithyor Ma Amritham Gamaya" - you may not know the meaning of this Vedic Verse. Never mind. You may not be ready for this type of wisdom. You will reject it because it is NOT from the Quar'on.
Luckily for me, my religion teaches me not to fall for "madhaacharyam" (getting mad over religious theology). To accept wisdom from ALL religions and even atheistic ideologies.
Only unwise people view their religion as THE TEAM they must always support, as THE LABEL they must defend - like it is some sort of IPL contest with other religions.
The Quar'on I read had a good commentary in English by a professor of AL AZAR University in Cairo. He did not criticise other religions, only explained the verses of the Quar'on. He admitted that some passages were controversial and, therefore, should not be interpreted literally. He was a truly wise and religious man. He had compassion in his heart as result of his knowledge of Islam. He was not like some "half-educated" Mullah with limited knowledge of Islam, who can only cry "Our religion in danger" every now and then. The Egyptian professor was a true scholar, I enjoyed reading him.

Dear Sir, A real nice artcile by you.
This guy Chetan Bhagat is really amazing... very pragmatic,no token idealism for him..his books may not be intellectual types (and they dont claim to be) but they work which means he found a connect somewhere with..which means people are just fed up of pretending to read a salman rushdie just to be cool..this generation is one that is sure about its identity, its indianness unlike the one born between the 'boring' 60s and the 80s which never felt comfortable in its own skin.. he's the true voice of our generation....really agree with his views...please have more articles like this..sensible voices make my day
u only reap what u plant.....the blame goes to the prev. gen. who let the society to degenerate .... see the teachers in the so called MANAGEMt. Coleges ....what are they teaching .... how to satisfy ur greed and how to cheat by the name of market play.....people want their children to be rich by hook or crook .... indian politicians are more than old and dont want to quit and let the country go to drain ... who are these people...people from prev. gen. ....they are the ones who made to happen things like that just to become something in the society ..... because we got independence by haste so all the powers went into the hands of cheaters and mostly looters and this is gradual outcome of the same.

i agree totally...but then there is a vast majority of ppl who loved his book...just lik they loved the aamir starrer "Raja hindustaani", which was equally crappy, so friend here we conclude anything that becomes HIT in India does not necessarily mean its GOOD. Its just that one person says its good and everyone follows...blindly. "Oh my god it reminded me of my college days..", its simply because of the IIT tag, in fact i have read better stories by ppl who actually nvr went to college And why the hell wud i be interested in reading what Mr. XYL did in his hostel...huh!! Well I have already fought wid my g/f over this.. a lot..so i ll finish it here...

i totally agree about five point someone ,even i bought it expecting something from an IITan..but it was a totally meaningless book. really. i guess today's callcentre generation who are incapable of comprehending anything more substantial ,must be the ones who made it a best-seller.
The no. quality i observe imong youngster in india today is, They all believe in doing something positive than keep gossiping/blaming some or other. Our past generation has wasted all the time talking about great ideology like remove poverty, socialism blaa, blaa etc. Today generation understand that 'talking about' it does not do a dam thing. So the new mantra is doing even a one step is better. Also thanks to new economic policy, a decade ago. We have now realised that only pvt company if grow they can creat jobs, they can build best school, hospitals, road, foot path and run it smoothly. Govt can't do any good thing well. only create obstacle in the growth by giving all the money to neta and their chamacha.
