Women's Day Celebration needs to be extended for the down trodden . I dont think educated parents ever treat their girl child as Step child.In fact the girls are given special attention in upbringing. Those (girl child) who are suffering because they are born girls are never able to speak out. Those celebrating Women's Day should never bother about those who are really suffering. Have you ever seen any lady offering a seat in bus/ train to a lady who is either pregnant or is carrying a small child? Yes a man will surely give a seat even if she is not with child.

I think to a large extent you have hit on the target. Most of these so called "educated women" want rights for women but have only misused these rights given to them. Being a woman myself I can talk of the previlegas we have at home, education, jobs and promotions. Being a woman it is easier to get a job or promotion with a lot less effort than men.
The real needy women are not getting help due the abuse and misuse bring propagated by "educated women". The draconian dowry laws were made to help dowry abuse victims but what has happened? Every year 70,000 false dowry cases are filed by "educated women". After 10 years in criminal courts with thorough investigation they are found false cases filed for monetary extortion. But damage done already- Jobs lost, health ruined, reputation soiled, sisters amd mothers mentally traumatized having wrongly jailed.
About 80,000 married men commit suicide every year unable to bear this abuse. More than one lakh innocent women have to go to jail due to these criminal and so called "educated women".
Attending one of the women press conferences like the one we organized yesterday in hyderabad will be a revelation to see the plight of mothers and sisters in india.

Munmum,
The links are not allowed to be posted by rediff and they are deleted. However it is easy to find this yourself.
Go to indian govt website and look for ncrb. else type national crime record bureau which is the government department which tracks all issues related to laws and security in the country. I think you have not read my posts. All posts have clearly stated the NCRB stats. You must learn to respect others opinion when you have not done any research yourself.

Hello Swathie,

i am not saying that wome dont have any rights..ofcouurse they have...but asking for equal rites as men which is against nature is stupid..women have equal humanitarian rights and women are equal to men in a different way
Tomorrow you may get a working woman, but you should marry her with these facts as well.
Here is a girl, who is as much educated as you are; Who is earning almost as much as you do;
One, who has dreams and aspirations just as you have because she is as human as you are;
One, who has never entered the kitchen in her life just like you or your Sister haven't, as she was busy in studies and competing in a system that gives no special concession to girls for their culinary achievements
One, who has lived and loved her parents & brothers & sisters, almost as much as you do for 20-25 years of her life;
One, who has bravely agreed to leave behind all that, her home, people who love her, to adopt your home, your family, your ways and even your family ,name
One, who is somehow expected to be a master-chef from day #1, while you sleep oblivious to her predicament in her new circumstances, environment and that kitchen
One, who is expected to make the tea, first thing in the morning and cook food at the end of the day, even if she is as tired as you are, maybe more, and yet never ever expected to complain; to be a servant, a cook, a mother, a wife, even if she doesn't want to; and is learning just like you are as to what you want from her; and is clumsy and sloppy at times and knows that you won't like it if she is too demanding, or if she learns faster than you;
One, who has her own set of friends, and that includes boys and even men at her workpl

Hello Apoori,
These are good points, but can you see how this applies EQUALLY WELL TO MEN in today's age?
Men have to leave their home as well to work in a different state or country. He has to share burden in making food and go to work.
In addition Men have to undergo the constant nagging and abuse of some criminal women. This abuse does not just end with men. Innocent mothers and sisters in far away place have to go to jail and run in courts for 15 years to prove their innocence. Did you ever think about this?
Married Men suicide due to family problems: 68,000 per year. What are these family problems?- Financial and legal terrorism. Women suicide per year- 26,000.
Number of married men burnt in 2006: 3423- No investigation till date. Number of married women burnt in 2006: 1800 (All of these are AUTOMATICALLY called as dowry death (304B) and entire family made to run around courts for 15 years to prove innocence in 70% of these cases.
Did you hear the plight of 150 women who have attended the all women press conference in hyderabad yesterday? Did you read these in news papers?
I think a society which blindly victimizes any one based on gender or for that matter any criteria serves any good.

Just as there is an anti dowry law the following laws should also be passed:
1) Right of man to complain in an all man police station against wife who is hitting his child
2) Right of man to complain in all man police station against wife not feeding / deliberately using abusive hurting foul filthy language and terrorising his aged mother / aged father / husband / children.
3) Right of husband for wife who is earning to use part of her earnings for expenditure on running of household and maintenance of children
The law today is totally one sided in favour of women. It is a pitiable state. There is no equality - only total protection of women.

not total protection but better termed as "TOTAL MISUSE" of these laws by some Indian women.

Beautifully elaborated!! Every woman reading this would be able to completely relate to this. But above all, its a great feeling to do each of these acts as a woman!! Its great to be a friend, a wife, a mother and the person running the house. Men have their own significance which cant and will not be disregarded!

most of us here assume that all women are innocent and every woman on this earth suffers in the hands of in laws. because of this impression some women are misusing the indian laws to their benefit by throwing 498a on their husband and in laws with no fault of theirs. many of us dont realise this until some one close in our family suffers the pain. some thing must be done to stop misusing the law so that it reaches the actual women. only god save India and Indian husbands.

498 A is bad if misused. See what all going on against this law and men are all united against it...it sjust been few years that this law was implemented but women are still not united against Patriarchy and all kinds of discriminations and suffurings since 1000 of years..
after reading negative messages for Women on the board, want to say that only boys shud take birth in this nation...then they will understand the importance of "Women"

Women's day should be celebrated till this "desirable" equality is achieved and after that to celebrabate the much deserved equality achieved after 1000's of years... seriously people wake up....

Come on women have already got too much. The laws, Govt. courts, media are all in their favour. Now, men's day should be celebrated. High time women stop creating this gender divide.

What do you want to do on Men's day!! These days are only publicised by the media for their obvious reasons. Men & women both have their relevance and the 'instituted' gender divide doesnt help anyone.
