In our country we see a lot of dowry cases, haressment meted out to young women , girls etc , When we study the each and every case indepth we find the root cause being a woman .on this womens day let every woman recognise the other woman's rights and responsibilities and let her live happily.Modern women in the name of equality and right fight for unnecessary things. on this day let them vow to bow it down.
Very recently in one state(i dont want to disclose name), a Local political party's Women chief for the state with a group of supporting women agitated and damaged the liquor shops shouting for ban of liquor. The same day night she was caught drinking in the partys guest house by the Press. This is called dark side of empowering woman most of the men dont know.

Why hide. Tell. This is in pune and was all over the news papers.
What a great "empowerment". This is nothing but a drama for some crooked politicians in congress party to get some votes. Not a single woman in distress has ever got help. The dowry laws are being used by "empowered" women in city to put old women and little children in jail and then ask for settlement money to go and marry their boyfriends and then repeat the process again. Media usually do not report thse in front pages. they are hidden in small segments in remote corners of the papers.
because women are really special and great and this one day will atleast make the men accept the truth that without women their world is incomplete . Women are more superior to men so womens day is celebrated to cheer it.
RE:reason for celebrating womens day

no because they are and will always remain the weaker sex. its their complex which makes them do such days and events to get that false sense of satisfaction that they come somewhere even near to men.
Now a days ,Every Issue discussed revolves around urban middle class. The womans day celebration is not an exception. For ages, men are considered responsible for the plight of woman in this country. Its partially true as well. But now, here is a question to all the empowered , new age urban women in this country. How many of you realy bothered about the plight of woman who are far away from this urban metros ? Like another user mentioedn below, it starts from giving seats in bus/train to helping a poor girl in Neighbourhood. I have seen so many instances where jeans clad urban young woman in buses never bother to offer seats in Buses to old women. They will busy talking on their mobile phones. Every one knows how a maid is treated in many households. Why cant the so called empowerment reach to the poorer section of the society. Probably the empowrement stops at ofice level parties, restourants, gift shops. So much for womans day! The only one issue where I appreciate Mulayam singh and Laloo is for their stand on 33% reservation for women. They rightly argued that if it is implemenetd as it is all this 33% will grabbed by urban women.

I cannot agree more with what you said. While one cannot say rural situation is same as urban, the so called "women empowerment" by so called "educated women" has done nothing but create a saga of unprecendented state sponsered legal terrorism on innocent men and his mothers and sisters in the name of dowry laws. There is no punishment for filing these most draconian false cases. In this law the husband has to prove that he did not do any crime, did not take dowry, has to run in courts for a mimimum of 10 years along with his entire extended families including far away distant cousins who are relatives only for name sake. How does this abuse of innocent men and women help genuine victims. It does not. It only creates a bigger human rights abuse as it is happening in urban societies silently.
Even by making simple changes to law like incorporating punishment at the end of 10 years to the guilty party (who ever it is) abusers will stop and genuine victims can get faster justice. Also, laws must be crime based and not gender based. If a man has proof of domestic violence he must get some relief as well. Take the example of Kerala HC judgement on DV where he mnetioned that the case of DV filed by a wife of a disabled husband was a case of DV on the husband and there is no law to punish such women in spite of the evidence present in the courts. If there is no provision by law itself for such victims to get even basic justice how can we achieve equality?
i feel it is not to show or prove equallity.because on one side we talk about women reservation 33%.on other side claim equal right. women who are sitting in the board room are struggling a lot as they have to manage home front also very seriously as well as outside home in office. so i feel in order to give them a feeeling of respect we should celebrate it.

Who should celebrate this? Abusers of law? Because that is what is happening. Should mothers and sisters abused by law celebrate for the violation of their basic human rights?

What kind of MCP attitude is this? Why generalise? If cheating on spouse is what you are talking about, I think its men who are as responsible as women.
Rather than discussing whether "Women's Day" should be celebrated or not, its our duty to focus on more important issues. Womens day is anyways celebrated by the working, independent, affluent class women.. My maid, who suffers daily, knows nothing about it.
We should rather work for those young girls who are forced into prostitution, for female infanticide, girls who are forced to quit studies and work for a living. Till the time such cases are prevalent in our society, its totally foollish to even talk of a "Womens Day"
