finance minister is not a technocrat
by Ashutosh Chitravanshi on Mar 07, 2008 10:08 AM  Permalink

F.M is not a technocrat he had never been to IIT and dont know the value of an IIT system. This is evident from his idea of opening three more IIT's. He should have layed more stress in basic aducation rather than increasing number of IIT's and there by ruining the quality of an IITian. I am an alumini of IIT and I personally feel that are several avenues where IIT's are still fighting to get through. IIT's are surviving because of the grant given by aluminis. Such a decision of F.M. shows that he still needs to learn more about what this country wants from Government.

by Rajesh Kumar on Mar 03, 2008 12:29 PM  Permalink

We know that something like education and health is only for rich and having money. Fact is govt does not allow us to earn moeny by making all possible laws and regulations and putting all direct and indirect barriers.

Whom are the govt working for by the way.

Extortion Money
by Rajesh Kumar on Mar 03, 2008 12:26 PM  Permalink

Recently my children have to pay few hundreds for appearing in a student test coducted by a startup who was started by few ex-IIM MBAs. It was made mandatory by principal to appear in test. Logic was that they will assess the student.

I am shocked to know that these schools can not assess the students. They need someone else to assess.

In the process what is CBSE is doing.

Shame on CBSE. They are just bunch of illiterate people who are just taking our children in the wrong direction and have made children just a point of profit. They can not assess our children for improvement. Its funny.

I think we are losing our brain day by day.

What is the meaning of education standards
by Rajesh Kumar on Mar 03, 2008 12:20 PM  Permalink

Why it is so? How do we define our high and low standards. The institutions who are suppose to make sure everyone learns , they test and provide grades to fail and pass. Is this fail and pass helps.

They have to make sure the all learn finally. They test should evaluate learning level only and shuld guide for improvements.

Fact is that now a days students are profit points for many schools and organisations doing business on them.

Schools have started earning on them by asking extra money day by day.

How you spend matters, not how much you spend.
by ravi landu on Feb 29, 2008 04:41 PM  Permalink

It is always welcome to raise the funds for the Education sector...the only panacea to Poverty.
However, the important factor that drives the education sector is the teaching faculty.
1.Govt should take steps to get the best teachers....and execuse me if I ask to remove 'reservations with compromised marks'.
2.Not just the profession, even the pay of the teachers should match that of other highly reputed professions such as doctors and engineers.
3.Encourage NGOs participation, not materially, but morally.
4.Corporate sectors can participate by making it's employee give guest lectures in the nearest schools/colleges. So, does the alumni of each school/college. This gives industry exposure experience to the students as well.

More people can add more points to the list.

On the whole, I would say, revive the Education system in India.
