24 hours a day is too less for me
by on Jun 15, 2007 01:12 PM  Permalink

Hi
I spend 24 hours of daily precious life of mine as follows
8 hours - work (efficiently)
3 hours - travel
8 hours - sleep
1 hour - getting ready for work
1.5 hours - 3 meals in a day
2.5 hours - leisure

when the work pressure is up, i give 10-11 hours daily.. everything is screwed up..

I am almost spending 50% of a day working, 40% sleeping/eating/getting ready, etc and only 10% for myself..
Now the problem is following:
i want to be good at work.. want to enjoy my life fully now when i am 25( and not when i am 45 or so)... how can i increase this meager 10% of daily life for myself?? if someone can help in this regard using their time management or any other management skills, pls reply..

IT is the root cause
by Thanraj Moses on Jun 15, 2007 01:09 PM  Permalink

Information Tech is the root cause for spoiling our precious India culture. In this competitive world we should get used to be satisfied first of all. Work life balance should be given priority, I feel if you are satisfied with what u have then you will enjoy the other part of life else go to HELL.

WASTE OF TIME IN TRAVELLING IN MUMBAI
by Dinkar on Jun 13, 2007 02:53 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

And what about waste of time of 4-5 hours only for travelling in Mumbai, in addition to 9-10 hrs duty. What is life for perople who are earning Rs.3000-4000 p.m. after so much struggle?. Hindus believe that we get human life after 84 million births? I request them to ponder over this degraded living standard? Apart from this huge competition everywhere. No pure water, shortage of electricity, costly commodities, huge school fees, the list is endless.

problem with indian work...
by Charan Chaupal on Jun 13, 2007 02:41 PM  Permalink

The same IT companies which make people slog here in their Indian branches don't act the same way in their product development center. They also know that a person cannot be attentively involved in work more than eight hours, but most of the work (including IT) coming to india is hi tech coolie work, which doesn't ask for a lot of creativity. So, they know that the work can be done with acceptable level of quality even if the person is made to toil for 14 hrs a day. The picture is quite different in Indian companies who work on developing their own product and don't work on outsourced projects. But unfortunately, there are really very few such companies...

All due to the IT industrys boom
by Nischal Ever on Jun 13, 2007 02:25 PM  Permalink

We are what we are today mostly because of the boom in the IT industry and the money that was associated with it in the late 90s when IT professionals made huge money. Logic today is simple "Karne wala hein tho karwane wale Hazaar milenge" and with a country of size India this is bound to happen with lack of Education and powerful media presence. Media has an opportunity to educate which some do and some dont. IT industry is one which screwed up Morals, Individual and business ethics and work culture namely and the list can go on. End of the day it is all about money that you can let go by not earning by working so hard. Opportunity cost that you can let go which most people today dont want to give up. Work where you can find satisfaction within and happiness in your families not places where it leads to families breaking friends. God Bless Indians.
