credit cards
by jayram mani on Jul 24, 2007 02:58 PM  Permalink

this is a message to all card users- please be aware that no one checks the signature behind the card after you complete a transaction and pay for it- i accidently used another persons card for a week and at many establishments before i got to know that my card was exchanged with a similar looking card and we both were using each other's cards with ease- this lead to a nightmarish situation because the person who used my card spent Rs 15 000 and i had spent only Rs600- i spent one year sorting the mess out as the card company cited security issues for not giving me the persons name- i was harrassed for 12 months by relentless telecallers who refused to understand the situation- be also aware that you can never meet any from the card company directly- they are all outsourced employees with no powers and keep passing the buck while the call centres harass you for no reason-one small suggestion would be that all cards should be photo cards and signatures should be checked with each transaction- blank unsigned cards should not be accecpted- genuine customers with a long track record (mine is 12 years) should be taken seriously and the company should talk to such people and understand the problem-

ICICI Credit Card
by SYAM SARMA on Jul 24, 2007 02:53 PM  Permalink

I have an ICICI credit card and wheni applied they have given additional cards(platinum etc). I have been using it for the past 3 months and so far they have NOT sent any statements. I had to remember the amount and date of purchase and deposit cheques. Their service is really pathetic

its a niusance
by Its Me on Jul 24, 2007 02:46 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I have a Citibank card. It has become a nuisance. The bills comes on the last due date. and even if you put the payment cheque on the due date or a day before you are charged for delay as it may take 2 days for clearing, But that is not fair, becos the last date is for dropping the cheque not for clearing. We have to suffer if their collection agents do not work efficiently.

What to do, where do i make a complaint ?? I gotta cancel it as soon as possible. Which one could be the best one to opt for ??

This is the mistake you are making, last due date is not for cheque to be dropped but payment to be recieved so u need to ensure that you drop the cheque atleast 2-4 days earlier. if you have a problem then right the date on the cheque as the due date only so that it gets cleared only on due date. Take my advice i m sure it works. I have worked for a MNC bank that is why i know this:)

If you have worked in MNC, you also must be knowing that post dated cheques for cc is not accepted. In an instance the card co. sent the cheque as soon cheque received, which was post dated but witin due date and the cheque bounced on technical. In this case bank and credit card co. fleeced money.

I have been using HDFC card since 2 years and during this period i haven't faced any inconvenience from the bank. I get the bills ontime and there are do false transactions also. But i think for longtime customers and whoever paying the bills on time, should be given special benefits atleast once a year.

Credit card :cheating business in our country
by Shafique Khan on Jul 24, 2007 02:21 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

They are flouting all rules of R.B.I. They overcharge client on any pretext; i.e.late payment; interest;miscelleneous fees or charges; evne interest on interest (which is illegal) are charged at fantasically highest rates. R.B.I. should be strict to these they are literally looting clients. There are also hidden charges about which client doenot know about it.Many people even donot go into deatials. I have changed credit carsd from bank to banks ; but all are same. After closing ans surrendering cards I recive all bills (i never used to get them when I was user)with telephonic threats.Complained to Police but no use; they have many other serious issues to deal with.

Being a muslim you should not do business with them as they are charging interest. Now let me guess, you applied card on your own, you are using on your own free will and now complaining that they are charging fees. Why not cancel them and get rid of this problem once and for all. But, wait you can't do that or else how can you purchase things that are latest and trendy, right?
Buddy, stop blaming others and start being responsible.
Why not bring a good name to much maligned Islam by starting a campain against using credit cards? Why not teach fiscal responsibility to fellow Ummah brothers, why not learn the good values that Islam teaches about living a life of simplicity without complications?

SBI is the pits. I have had their card for the last 4 odd years, and being an old fashioned sort, use it rarely, when i dont want to carry a lot of cash. Normally every year I get a statement for annual charges and the renewed card comes soon thereafter. This time I paid the annual charges in May, and despite 5 calls to their call centre and 7 e-mails to them, I have yet to get either the card or the refund of the annual charges, which they have refused to refund .
