I SIMPLY LOVE the article. I've been harassed to bits by dolts from ABN, ICICI, HDFC, Amex more recently Tata-AIG and Barclays. Some call a few times AN HOUR. Most irritating like the joker "Babu Ji" who wrote 2 opinions back-to-back.
More ideas please; I want to strike back at least some :)
Whatever you may say.. The guys / gals in the job may have their compulsions. BUT NO ONE HAS THE RIGHT TO INTRUDE ON MY PRIVACY. These tele marketers have made the life hell. The best way to deal with them, is to call them to your office and then tell them politely that you dont need their product. This is the best way to get your name deleted from their data bases.
wats wrong with rediff guys???? after all they r doing their duty, if so called news channels are annoying u with the latest updates like "abhishek is spotted with ash in auckland",who the hell wants this absurd news and running special coverage on their honey moon trips, come on guys give me break.... if these things are not annoying they poor souls who make their living out of these calls better than u folks...... why there is always diginity of labor??? cant we be courteous to them and polite refuse their offers, whats wrong in spending few seconds in answering them?get into the shoes of them and think from their point of view, how bad they would they felt when u guys abuse them, they are handling 1000 customers like u with different mindsets and attitudes and how politely they ask sorry for disturbing u why cant u be like them? whenever u call any customercare services and if they rudely replided how bad u felt and starting cribing that they r not listening and not courteous.... thats the problem in india they want them to treated well and expects respect frm others but least bother abt treating others in same manner... well grow up guys........ get well soon redifffffffffffffff

I wonder why people react to such small issue of telepmarketing. It seems our culture of being polite has taken a beating in this mad rush to be achievers...and god knows what are we trying to achieve. The law of nature is: if something is a bother it will die by its own doings. However patience needed. I appreciate your views.

Whenever I get a call from a tele-marketer, I politely tell him/her that I do not need their service and he/she hangs-up. I do not think the gimmicks mentioned in this article are needed.

Its a Pure Non -sense Article. I agree, we feel disturbed by Tele MArketing Calls, but at the same time we should not hurt others feeling, just because of doing thier job.

If you don't hit back, we will encourage this tele marketing business. I do this often nowdays. I ask these agents to come to office and then tell them to go back as I am no longer interested. By doing this you will increase their cost of operations and make the business unviable.
what a stupid article !!! why dont you teach people to be upfront & say NO straight forward if that is the case. with these stupid ideas you are making fun of the job-which you are not entitled to & nor you have a right to ridicule of anything of any sort.
I am in complete agreement of ways suggested to deal with tele marketing guys. It would have been better to let people know of how deal with situation which works better to help sales campaign and targeted client.

Absolutely, I agree with you. You are the one who has really appreciated this article.
That made for some light-hearted reading... People who feel it was a nasty article should learn to lighten up a bit..... every profession is made fun of in some way or the other eg: accountants, lawyers, psychiatrists, counsellors etc...... I myself worked as a telemarketer when i was young & reading this did'nt bother me.... so please, learnt to take things in the right spirit!!
