Which is best - Biziness or Naukri ?
by vijayakumar chakrapani on Jan 31, 2007 10:06 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

In Naukri (that too in Govt/PSU jobs) U R assured with Hefty pay cheques with lots of other incentives irrespective of UR performance in majority of cases...just U have take care of UR Boss and sarroundings...but not case with UR Bizness...U need to slog manage UR competetors lots of tensions, but U R the Boss always and gain lots of job satisfaction and Money. It is all depens on basic mentality of persons (ie ., in DNA).But nothing wrong in earning lakhs of Rupees at big MNCs just beating the bushes and attending CORPORATE meetings ...if U get bored U can hop over to another MNC with that rich COPORATE expereience...U need to be always cautious and smart to manage UR Boss ...as repeatedly told by SRK in the latest film "DON".The best thing is to work for top MNC and carry on with side BIZ in your spouse/brother's name, so that U can tap the benefits of both.Hope it sounds Good idea for Young entrepreneurers.

Its a question of ethics.
its illegal by most company clauses to be doing that, they clearly mention that whatever you do will be a part of your company and side biz etc not allowed. Ofcourse no one can prove it but as an entrepreuner i may not be so happy with the same if my employ does it too.

I dont think their is any comparison
by on Jan 31, 2007 09:39 AM  Permalink

I think this is a very personal choice.

The choice is not only judged by hard factors like available wealth, education, area of expertise but it is also influenced by soft factors like
- personality
- acceptance to uncertainity and risk
- lifestyle
- family values

There may be people who are very happy with their jobs and cant get the same lifestyle even if they do a business. And I dont mean in financial terms but around factors like family life, peace of mind etc.

Some people are much more accustomed to risks and uncertainity, as if they dont get a kick if everything in life is pre-planned and covered.

So in fact I think it is a very personal life and lot more goes into this decision behind hte covers and not only what comes to our brain.

Thank You Rediff - More Work Ahead
by Yogi on Jan 31, 2007 02:11 AM  Permalink

Thank you rediff and other members on the forum for bringing up the debate.. At least some sensible article here.. As you can see people are coming out of the slavery mode and gearing up for entrepreneurship which is a healthy sign for the economy.. Unfortunately there is very little support event today... Rediff more articles on fund raising, VC's or projects that could be taken up..

It is just a question of your own priorities...
by Satish on Jan 31, 2007 01:01 AM  Permalink

Let me tell you something about me. I am a B.Tech in computer science and engineering. I have always wanted to open my own company .

But i thought, It would be better to get some expreience first and test my decision to have my own business as it is better to test your will power whether you are really interested to have your own business.

I have completed my 1 year on job, now i respect my decision to choose to do a job first. But i still want to open my business.

I know on thing that if I do job whole my life, i cannot gather enough funds to buy a decent house in chandigarh. This is only one fact.

Go For entrepreneurship !!
by nitin kataria on Jan 31, 2007 12:54 AM  Permalink

Of course there are Pros and Cons for both Service and Business but lets understand certain things :

1. You life is already destined .
2. If you work hard for your own business as you work hard for the company you are working for you will gain exponentially.
3. One should definitely opt for Business if the Financial position of the Family is very strong.
4. It is very important for all aspiring entrepreneurs to at least work for 2-3 years in a relevant sector which is also your target sector for busines.

Finally, "if you fail in business Roti kapda to chalega but if you succeed who knows you can be the next Reliance or Infosys??????"

The choice is yours..........

Definitely a job to start and then a business
by RaviShankar Anantharamu on Jan 30, 2007 11:43 PM  Permalink

When you graduate from a Business school, you usually have only academic knowledge. If thats the case, then it is definitely worth getting some work experience for a year or two. You then should go for a completely thought about plan rather than just jumping in eagerly. Working for yourself always motivates oneself and when you know that you are responsible for your own success or failure, you tend to think rationally and work harder. It is anyday better than waiting for a paycheck, getting apprised from managers who pay only lipservice and always hoping you are not the next to get the sack. You make the processes, you make the decisions, and you make yourself worthy than some multinational company!!

Its All About Vision
by lokesh verma on Jan 30, 2007 11:18 PM  Permalink

lot of talks on salary & perks, risks & comfort. talk of anything - money, work, effort, pressure situations, its same whether u go for job or start up. but the one thing which differentiates both, is the vision. if u have a vision which can not be achieved by associating with a company (someone else's vision), u have no choice but to start on your own.

business or job
by Naveen Sharma on Jan 30, 2007 11:02 PM  Permalink

i believe starting your own business is always a better option because being the boss and controlling things and controlling them properly is one satisfaction that a job can never give you and eventually reaping the profits after so much hard work is a bliss.
