Half of our life is spent trying to find something to do with the time we have rushed through life trying to save.
I have seen several people rushing through everyday's work and in the end feel empty and take up more work sacrificing the quality and increasing the quantity. It is a vicious cycle, you always try to be optimize your time and save it but will not find enough time to think of a way to spend the saved time.
Almost every one is capable of running and save time, but why do people walk around most of the time? Working at a normal pace is not procastination, but not working at all is procastination which needs to be dealt with. Many people especially managers tend to see working at a normal pace as procastination. If people around are running then a person walking will be considered a lazy person.
I have seen many people at work with "Chaltha hai attitude" they dont consider their work very seriously. This is due to the way they brought up. In this competing world I strongly feel there is no reason not to be serious at our work. People with this attitude always procastinate their work which lead to lots of problem later. The sooner the attitude is changed the better chances of coming up in life. "Let us serve this world with what ever little knowledge we have, to make this world a better place to live"
It is true that the procastination is one of reasons for slow progress of work. But one needs to take care of priorities of BOSS rather than of his/her own.The Success Mantra is if you take "CARE" your Boss at whatever the cost, then you can be termed as "SMART" worker...but not necessarily one has to be honest, intelligent, loyal and hard worker. So your career growth solely depends how much U R smart in managing your BOSS and not your work or your organisation ...a lesson from Indian professional worker working in MNC.Best of Luck!
Recently I read an article that mentioned that procatination and health are directly related. That people who procastinate end up losing their health aslo. Hence if we want to live a healthty life we should stop procastinating.
Many people do not know how to manage their time. They keep brooding over minor matters unmindful of the time it takes for sorting out irrelevant issues. Ultimately they do not find time for the most important tasks.
RE:How to overcome Procrastination?

Procrastination is a habit of putting off the activity for another time; all the time. One acquires this habit in ones younger days, when friends tend to encourage this tendency. The first step is to find friends who are themselves achievement oriented. The second is to emulate what they do and it is not difficult. The third is to practice doing activities and the secret is to break down your task into simpler managable ones and begin doing it at once
