KG,

Your might be right or the vice-versa. Basically, this is just a thought of another person like yor or me. Moreover, in UK as far as I have experienced are very formal unlike in the US and I guess they don't mind for a short intro. What matters is your tone and modulation... Just get that right and be clear..

Hi there

I am a management consultant, and conducting phone interviews is a part of my job profile. I do not competely agree with the guide listed here.

For starters, there's a mention of lack of visability (body language, personality) and then you say jump straight to the point. If someone did that with me when they want a job, I'd hang up right away! There has to be a balanced intro- a friendly intro, leading right to the point.

and there are lots more issues!

on second thoughts, maybe the work culture is very different in India and UK.

cheers

Gimme a break!!!

He said to the point. He did not say to the 100 % exact point. And he has given an example too.

Btw when we all read such an article, we are only interested in the benefits that we may be expected to get from that article. We may call it GK or light reading but we all know that purpose of it.

So in other words, when we talk to an employer about "the field engineer" position we mean that we want to be seen as one in your company. No one of us is interested in your qualifications etc. We all want to know what do we get if we clear all the rounds.

BTW are there any crude people who say "I want that job" without explaining/letting you discover the positive attributes they have for the advertised job. Chances are there that these people are close to less than 1 % of all the people interviewed
