This is so STUPID
by AJ on Oct 13, 2006 10:08 AM  Permalink

Well I wonder if eating a plate of Idli, one has to brisk walk for 52 mins? How crazy can that be? I am cent percent doubtful about the authenticity of this article. As for the "expert's ideas" I think as per her, the best way to survive hence would be to drink water and exercise. No food please!!

Pao-Bhaji
by Kalidas on Oct 13, 2006 10:04 AM  Permalink

There is another, Goan varient of 'Pao-Bhaji', which happens to be the original one. It is called 'Bhaji pao' (Pl. not the change in priority of words). For centuries Goans have eaten this as a staple dish. Most likely, Goans introduced it to Mumbaikars and was chaged to Pao Bhaji by adding a lot of butter. Definitely sweet loving Gujjus in Mumbai made this varient more popular. The difference? the Goan variety does not contain butter at all, only vegetable oil, very very little, please. Even coconut is for taste only. I do not know the stats, but Goans had proportionately low cardiac problems in pre- liberation (before 1961)days!

how the calorie in any food are determined and do the consumtion or expenditure of calories is arrived at and what methodolgy is employed to test the findings of any such excercise? what has been stated appears emperical and speculative to me without any scientific basis .Did the author determined the caloreis himself or he got the data from somebody or a book? there has always been a talk about good food and good food habits. All food articled mentioned acove are eaten aavidly not only in maharashtra but all over india and world where ever there are indians.please let us know the truth scietifically i am neither a fan or favourite for all these it is from scientific pont of view that i am raising this question calories may be important but these are not the only criteria of eating food so many other factors buzz in one knows please enlighten

Idli Sambar vs Pav Bhaji
by Pradeep Datar on Oct 12, 2006 11:12 PM  Permalink

Keep it up.Try & compare various Indian cuisines in the same fashion.Try to give a strong messsage that even stale home-made food is thousand times better than the so-called food. Not that every hotel is bad,but the general hygeinic conditions in one's house is always better than the best commercial kitchens.

I have a Question
by Hrushikesh on Oct 12, 2006 11:04 PM  Permalink

Hi,

If we are on the move are we not burning calories? If we take all the calories into consideration, we will have to be fasting all day.

We walk, sit, read on the computer and that does burn some of the calories. Just by having one Vada Pav if I have to run for 80 minutes, no one would ever eat this Delicious treat.

Corret me if I am wrong here.

Hrushikesh
