Its a fairly functional, almost run down place that has some gems sitting within. Picked up The Sunil Gavaskar Omnibus (Sunny Days, Idols, One day wonders) and a host of other good stuff. Its a must visit if you love reading sport
I think the author has missed the most important book market in Delhi which is nai sarak, chandni chowk. This market has got over a mile of book shops on either side and I believe every student of Delhi has visited this place more than once in their lifetime. You get discount upto 40% (30% is too common) and you can buy first hand and second hand books too, which you can sell later again if you want.
