I would certainly prefer Gelato for ice cream, as I was in Italy for three years I always preferred Gelato and tasted all the possible flavours but the Gelato tastes different in India as compared to the Italian ones. In Italy we have more tasty ones and large variety. Anyway we can always improve with quality and taste. But one must certainly try Gelato for ice cream once to know the difference between the two. gelato is really gud..was quite alien to the concept until i reluctantly tried it at amore...dont prefer ice-creams that much.. but gelato's are really wonderful...m totally hooked onto them...but i really wonder the so called gelato which we get in mumbai is the actual stuff..anyone who has tasted it abroad??
I tried the redbull flavour which was awesome, It literally tastes like redbull and if compared with other brands gelato is the best , It melts in the mouth very fast giving a nice taste. And price are also normal around 55 per scoop , they dont give it in a cone or a rafle cone they only give it in a cup..
Gelato is cool for the various endless new flavours that come with tryin it. I have tried
Espresso Tiramisu Hazelnut Jamaican Rum n Raisins Carapino Nuts
The mind blowing was da Jamaican ! Hats off... rest were not so gr8. Gelato melts in the mouth quickly sometimes tooo quickly ! Only advantage over Ice cream is that unbelievably new range it opens up.
Lastly there is no comparison to Good old Sitaphal, Coffee-Walnut (better than Espresso anytime) from Naturals and the softies at 7/11. :D
Gelato outlets in South Mumbai:
1. At Dadar Circle next to Pritam, on the main road turning. 2. At High Street Phoenix Lower Parel, next to Bombay Blues.
Both have entirely different flavours on any given day. If u find the Jamaican ur in luck !!!
