Well Ryaan, Don't ever make that mistake of coming here for +2. You will NOT even get a visa to come here. The schools here are a total waste of time.. You will have to finish your +2 there and then get into a good engineering field and start preparing for GRE right from the first year. You can then come here to the US on a student visa to a very good university. Don't ever waste time trying to come here before you complete your degree.

It would be almost impossible to get a visa now. Better that you complete at least 16 years of education in India and then think for higher studies in the subject of your interest in US.

Hi, I borrowed heavily for my MBA in a good US school. The problem is that I borrowed only for a year, and thought something would work out once i am here. However, that didn't happen.
The next year starts in September and I'm out of funds. The school says i would have to leave if I don't pay up.
I can't repay back my loan if I am forced to go back to India. I don't want to spend the next twenty years of my life repaying the loan. Please advise.

This is what rediff's international education expert had to say:
I only advise the following in emergency situations:
First ask the university for a monthly installment tuition scheme. Then apply for a work permit under the "Economic Hardship Programme" which will enable you to work off campus. Your off campus job should
pay enough to help you pay your tuition and living expenses. The work permit can be applied through the university international student office.
However, keep in mind that after graduation you are allowed 12 months of Optional Practical Training (OPT). If you apply for this temporary work permit for a period of 9 months, your OPT period will reduce from 12 months to 3 months. Therefore, after graduation, you will only have 3 months to work with a company on your student visa.
Needless to say, Amit, you have taken a very big risk. Once you get through this situation, please exercise common sense and only sign up for programmes if you can afford it.

No you cannot apply for a visa from Sweden. You will have to go back to India and come from there. The US embassy in sweden will not even give you an appointment. -sam
Hello, My problem is I was trying to bring my husband in F2 visa showing funds in bank. But now the consulate told him I need to have the income to support him. It is weird while I am a student how can I have income to support my spouse except through money already in the bank. How can I raise my income.

Well you can't really bring your husband on an F2. I am assuming you are a F1 student. They will definitely reject his visa application. You cannot show finances from the US either. His best option is to come on a F1. Your best option is to finish your MS and then bring him on a H4 visa. -sam

My wife also came here on F-2 visa without any problems, but I was a Grad Assistant and getting good money. If you are GA/RA and earning good money it will make your case strong.

I am currently in my final year of B.Tech in Biotechnology. I wanted to know what are the career prospects after M.S. in Biological Sciences. I am keen for an industry oriented job. Also, is MS or PhD better for someone who wants to remain attached to Biotechnology.
