Firstly, do not even consider yout mother tongue to be a hindrance. If anything, your mother tongue will help you in learning. All over the world you will see that people who have education and 'thinking' in their mother tongue do well and are more creative, unlike in our country where we are good in copying english language and more recently accent.
To thos eof you who think you do not know enough english, put efforts into learning and do not feel bad for lack of english prowess. On the other hand, feel happy about having a good grasp of your mother tongue. MT will help you excel in your chosen field. It is also easy to sware in one's MT!
So, all teh best and keep working. Put some effort and do not reeplace your mother tongue with english, whatever you do!
Dear Manish Sharma: Are you 100% sure that you CAN make sentences in English? Your sentence-making is like Sehwag's batting -- he says he can do it, but everyone else is still waiting for a real performance.
Hi Nilesh: Go back to KG like you did in your "child"(hood?).
Or may be you can just ask Arjun Singh for a don't-know-English quota.

Be positive until u die.when there is a will there is way great people have said. Sanjita.

Hey Manosij,
seems that you are the one with the perfect score of 100. if you are that good, why don't you share your knowledge with others and earn some respect, rather being a bully and trying to bully others. am sure you must have been the last bencher in your school, getting bullied at the drop of a hat. in my personal opinion, having a good understanding of english language and vocabulary is more important than emphasizing on wenstern or european accent unless your career depends on BPO and other communication related profession. just make sure that the message gets conveyed without much effort.

Its not a great act to make fun of a person's weakness.English is a foreign language and its no sin not to know the language.Atleast,he has the guts to come out and accept the truth.

I agree with you completely Ravi. Criticism is worth it only if it's constructive. If we cannot do anything to help people, we dont have any real right to plainly discourage them either.

Hey Manosij,
Agreed that people may be not be as good as they think they are. The language is such, but when you try to offer some suggestion or criticism, try to keep it constructive. Your comments do not help anyone, and only goes to discourage people. That is no way of showing off your prowess in English (?).

Manosij, Don't give any advise to anyone in future. It would be a big disaster. I think you can help someone by keeping quiet.
hey manish and everyone who has posted questions just have confidence on ur accent even if its tamil one just ask the lady who is advising u, she must be having london, preston or livrpool accent if she is from england, and i have every reason to belive , she is. just have confidence manish, knowing language is very good , but dont immerse urself as kindly suggested by the preson take care
You cant expect "Angrez" to speak our language well...This is just a lot of hype...I am an indian student in the USA, and I find that Asians esp Japanese, or Chinese who dont know how to speak well AT ALL, are doing advanced graduate courses requiring a lot of speaking, writing and oral presentations. All the professors are very patient when these non-English speakers open their mouths to speak. Of course, at some point you have to try hard and get better. It is good to learn how to communicate effectively, but I dont think that's all that matters. You have to know your subject well. Ultimately, if you have brains nothing else really matters. So, stop the paranoia about the "accent" and learn to communicate effectively. Australians have their accent, British have theirs, Americans have theirs, and Indians have their own 'mixed masala' accents. Hold your head up high!
Yes it is true there will be influence of mother toungue accent. Once you are away from your State and show interest in learning the language of the State where you shift, there will be improvement. In Kolar Gold Fields, I used to hear "Cycle Motor" instead of Motor Cycle.But--aanna casually comes out of tamilian. In certain parts of Karnataka the word Mountain will have all the twists of a mountain peak and there is no accent difference for Tournament and Govern{a}ment.
