removing screening n 60% requirement in 10+2 are OK.
but i don't think making JEE objective type is a good one.i think its better to have both objective n descriptive like the old model.

IIT JEE
by RAM MEHAR SINGH on Sep 23, 2005 12:06 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dear Sir,

The decision taken by the HRD Ministry about JEE is really a bold and good one taken at an appropriate time and will certainly be very beneficial to all perspective IITians, especially to the students belonging to economically weaker sections in our country. The said decision has been welcomed by everyone to a large extent. The stress on students will certainly be lessen. However, the coaching centres are stunned due to this decision.

Wishing for successful implementation of the said decision.

R.M. SINGH

Well Mr. Sourabh, at the first instance how did u assume that Mr. Ram Meher is not an iitian...I am an IITian and that too from 'IIT KANPUR' ... don't be so proud for just being an IITian that u start insulting others who are not... and by the way do u have reasons to feel proud of being an IITian...and I will give u thousands of reasons for not feeling proud to be an IITian..
Come back to earth Mr.

mr. whatever u r.whoever u r. i m an iitian
belonging to iitm, and i really dont think that
giving a objective paper is a fare dicision.
one thing i want to clear .maximum stress is given by my
college about objective paper. in my college status is like this :director , dean or any other member hates only people belonging to coaching of kota or any other coaching in north india side.if u will say i m from ramya or any other coaching in hyderabad they will say good job! and with a smile.i gave jee this year.
i myself oppossess coaching, any decision is correct about stopping coachings but objective paper is a bad decision. i will never support such a decision and if u think i m wrong come to iit and ask students why objective is wrong decision.my words will be clear to u.dont say any wrong word from outside.

How can JEE be made objective ...I just don't get it ..JEE is an exam which requires very critical thinking on the part of students ...I don't think that making it an objective paper will do justice with this ...objective papers just check the extent of knowledge & not the depth of it ...In my opinion this is just Dumb !

I really dont u'stand the necessity of laying the 60% cutoff in the boards. If the IITs want that student should study class 12th syllabus well and that the coaching institutes do not 'make' money , IITs should set no set of pattern! That will be better. They should make a flexible paper that covers all the features of class 12th well. There may be a screening that covers hitherto neglected portions...the mains may be a typical IIT paper. This would restrain the ill coaching institutes. U SEE FRENZ often by bad luck or the fault of the 'board'(esp. state boards of bihar and UP where the craze for IITs is max.)one may not be able to secure the stipulated minimum.

Regarding the attempts,i think at least three chances should be allowed .This will definitly relieve a 2nd attempter much and he will be able to take the test in good humour.Chances grow slim as no. of attempts go beyond 2 but at least some relaxation should be given ;u see IIT is IIT ! where is an engineer that did not dream of IIT and really worked hard for it.Let it be a fair game and give every possible and logical chance to one and all to realize a dream !!!
Aint those who were not at IITs still have a hole in hrt.

IIT-JEE
by K. Mallick on Sep 22, 2005 02:54 PM  Permalink

The Joint Admission Board (JAB)members should visit some well known IIT coaching centres and see for themselves how in a couple of month's time they transform a shy student into a confident one. Gaining a rank in JEE is never easy, and all those have qualified in JEE do have good knowledge in science and maths what the JAB, in fact, wishes to have in 10+2 courses.

any coaching centre.

IIT-JEE
by Dr K. Mallick on Sep 22, 2005 02:26 PM  Permalink

The Joint Admission Board (JAB) of IIT has reformatted the JEE for 2006, and wishes to incorporate changes every three years in order to (i) deciminate the coaching centres and (ii) orient the students for their 10+2 education. However, the JAB has no control over the quality of 10+2 teaching in different parts of India. When I appeared JEE I didn't join a coaching centre, because the teachers at Intermediate level were top class and did not consult just a single prescribed book to teach maths, physics and chemistry. However, such dedicated teaching is no more there to encourage students for self study.
Students go to coaching centres, say in Hyderabad, because the entire +2 course is taught in just three months and in a superb style. Thereafter, the students are taught to develop analytical minds to solve problems.
The JAB need to include the heads of some coaching centres to understand how they shape the students and how they solve JEE problems which cann't be solved by even IIT teaching staff (with apology to them).
Therefore, my appeal is not dilute the IIT system which has brought us laurels at home and abroad.
Dr. K. Mallick
