Kind Attention: Karim' Management
by Rashid Qureshi on Mar 27, 2017 11:25 PM  Permalink

Dear Sir,

You may be serving/cooking best of the Mughlai Cuisines in Delhi, but this doesn't mean that your staff would treat customers rudely. I am not saying that the customer is king or something but everyone deserves the right kind of treatment as a patron to your establishment. Like me, there may be people, who may not be regular enough to your Jama Masjid Branch, to be well versed with dos and don'ts that are upheld by your staff so strongly that get offended by small deviations and become aggressive and ready to fight.

I am nobody to judge/advise you on anything at all, that is your establishment and you have all the rights to run it the way you want. If this is the kind of behavior or customer treatment is what Karim's policy is then I am sorry I even raise this before you.

Sorry to trouble you with what I felt that day.

Beware of Fraud at Karim's, Jama Masjid
by nandana biswas on May 13, 2012 03:34 PM  Permalink

The famed KARIM’s restaurant of Delhi has fallen in bad days, it seems. Karim’s Nizamuddin, the more dignified of its outlets, has downed its shutters temporarily due to labour problems about which its management has been quite evasive in the media. I had a very unpleasant personal experience with its flagship outlet in Matiya Mahal, Gali Kababian, Jama Masjid in Old Delhi recently which shows how this once heritage eatery is going to disrepute with its management least bothered or even aware.
On the night of 09 May 2012, I packed some food from the outlet for home, sparing my family members from the squalid “heritage” environs of the Urdu Bazaar. The amount was just over Rs. 1100.00 in two separate bills. I was told to wait for 25 minutes which I tried to utilize by hanging out and buying minor provisions from neighbouring shops. Half an hour later I collected my stuff in two packets and left hurriedly to make the most of the virgin heat of Mughlai food.
After unpacking the stuff at home, I found two meat dishes missing along with its bill. After cremating the remains I figured that the food was much greasier than before. The aromatic flavour too was markedly amiss.
Thereafter, I started working the phone no. given on the surviving bill. “Call back after half an hour, we’re busy right now”, came the reply. Next time the guy just hung up. The same followed the next two days. Once, one of the guys was magnanimous enough to ask me to g

My intestines got clogged after eating from Karim's few weeks back. Its precooked food.. how else can they be so quick in their service. Its definitely stale to some extent. The food is oily. For ALLAHs sake dont eat there.

so much for nothing! i had visited karim's gurgaon and didn't quite like the food viz-a-viz the hype arnd it. so went to chandni chowk to eat at the so called original karim's and got biryani, seekh and shaami kebabs packed. trust me, it was the most horrendous of kebabs i've had all my life. following sunday was ruined due to upset tummies and broken hearts :( don't eat at karim's if u wish to eat good food!

Karim's...how much did they pay you?
by Attah on Sep 05, 2005 02:10 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

no doubt the author must have told the hotel staff that he had come for a review write up. I am a frequent visitor to hotels in that area. When I visited Karim's, the Sheermaal- a traditional sweet naan (bread)was served by frying a refrigerated piece without defrosting (quick service). the chicken curry and chicken biryani was mostly the neck pieces and cold to boot! Karim's has become a victim of its own success. in fact the hotels next door- though not so well known- are much better.

from time to time i have read articles about Karim's and was even recommeded by various people and had been tempted to eat there.
so far i had eaten there 4 times and all those time i found nothing special about it.
i wondered what the hype was about.
actually speaking, all of old delhi area especially walled city has various gastronomical treats to offer which are remeniscent of an era goneby.
you can sample these great tastes all over old delhi, not only at karim's.
Karim's is only over-hyped.
