what do we eat?
by V.S.S.Nair on Mar 21, 2005 09:05 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Milk is for calves..throw those rotten eggs at someone you hate..avoid all meats..no sugar or salt even for taste..oil is for massaging only..tea? never even try to pick with your fingers! drain the coffee down the sink...eat fruits only after washing and pealing..vegetables may have a lot of pesticides..
Now how any man can survive?

gulf as much of the polluted air???

I came across an elderly patient who was suffering from Diabetes type II comlicated by Diabetic nephropathy( KIDNEY FAILURE), Hypertension ( ELEVATED BLOOD PRESSURE) andIHD( had an attack of M.I ( HEART ATTACK) 10 yrs go for which he had undergone successful ANGIOPLASTY for 2 vessel block. I am a Surgical Gastro-enterologist but he had come to me for the t/t of CHOLELITHIASIS ( Gall Bladder Stones). After performing LAPAROSCOPIC CHOLECYSTECTOMY , the day he was being discharged he asked me what dietary precautions he should take with all these diseases he is unfortunately suffering me.
I told him for Diabetes you should not take sweets, fried food, alcohol, salt. For Renal failure , dont take much proteins. For Heart Disease dont consume red meet , Eggs, full fat milk , yoghurt , cheese and other dairy products. and to keep your cholesterol low please avoid meat, eggs and all fried food. He smiled and politely asked me THANK YOU DOCTOR but I'ld have loved if you would have advised me the food I can take rather all the stuff I cannot take b'cause there is nothing left. I know one thing I have to take something to survive as now I can't the vegetables as it contains pesticide!!!

diabetic diet : dos and don'ts
by Dr.M.RAVI on Mar 15, 2005 02:04 PM  Permalink

of late, type II diabetic cases are on the rise and this is because of our change in living style. our elders used to live healthy even at the age of 70 or more by doing their domestic chores without help of machines or gadgets. The air and water were pure and now both are contaminated everywhere. We totally depend on gadgets in our homes and we hardly do any physical work. Our mind works more than our body. to avoid this as far as possible, we can try to adopt our elder living style.
Wherever possible we can go to nearby places by walk
we can wash our clothes without help of machine
we can do cycling atleast one or two days in a week.
[in china people go everywhere by cycle only] this will also help consumption of petrol. we can do simple exercises and above all, let us try to eat less and good stuff. If we keep our mind and body alert we can lead a healthy life.
