The CAT is the most unpredictive xam in the world( Its no exaggeration).. 4m the past several yrs, CAT has managed, very efficiently, to bring in surprises at the last moment.. If it was clubbing in sections once, it was multiple marking last year.. So much that, Coaching institutes list out the possible surprises that mey come..
Inspite of them, I m sure it would bail out and manage to bring in new patterns, and select the right competent future managers of the country

No coaching needed for CAT
by netpm on Aug 05, 2005 06:41 PM  Permalink

Coaching for CAT (non-standardized test) or standardized tests are not needed, because of the fact that a candidate that is not within over 90 percentile before coaching has slight chances of scoring higher or improving his/her capabilities. Then what is needed from training institutions like IMS? They should provide the students with basics of math/grammar, and strategies to take the test. These strategies will stimulate the minds of good candidates and they'd further devise better ways to tackle the test. They've good chances of being future managers. Good managers don't rely make better decisions and work as a team in the real world. Hence they also will have capabilities to clear GDs. I don;t think there is a need for coaching people for GDs. That sounds ridiculous to me.

Coaching

this is from my experiences.

The CAT, or for that matter any Indian or foreign exam (except PERHAPS the IIT-JEE), can be predictable after a period of time. The only way out is to change the pattern every year, which is cumbersome but a real challenge for the institutes.

Otherwise, all exams are domestic animals and coaching classes, their trainers.
Perhaps the IIT-JEE is a wild animal. But there seem to be some trainers in KOTA, Rajasthan, these days.
