I think this guy is a looser. I work at a call centre myself and enjoy the job. If your priorities are to watch a film or talk to the person next to you this is not the job for you. In his next job he will find some other excuse. It is too hot-- one has to travel-- people scream at you etc.
There may be some truth in the article "I'll never work in a call centre" but every company is not that inhuman in its operations and approach. Eventhough I have never worked in a call center but i am sure that this kind of atmosphere is not everywhere. Infact I am looking for a job at a call centre. To get something you have to loose something. It's ok that money is not everything but you have to work really hard to earn it, irrespective of the field which you chooses.
I have a complete different attitude towards call centres and I am positive to work at such places.
