Decline of language
by Suraj Singh on Jun 01, 2008 11:44 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This is why Karl Kraus, the founder of modern Sprachkritik, or “criticism of language,” was so hard on the Viennese press of the 1920s and 1930s. He is alleged to have said that “if those who are obliged to look after commas had made sure they are always in the right place,” the Japanese would not have set Shanghai on fire. I’m not sure I’d go that far, but the New York Times article speaks for itself. People who cannot distinguish between good and bad language, or who regard the distinction as unimportant, are unlikely to think carefully about anything else.
The same goes for nations in general. “Decline of language is the decline of the life of the people who use it.”

after all english is a foreighner's language. We have to be ashamed of only when we make mistakes in our mother tongue. We are not born as englishmen. Language is to convey a message to other person. If the other person understands it in the sense it is o.k. whether it is sms or yms or tms. O.K.?

positives from IPL
by biswanath roy on Jun 01, 2008 11:44 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

There are many positive aspects from this first version of IPL. This has projected India as the super power of world cricket, what with the current best players of the world lining up to play for the Indian sides, owned by Indian industrialists/film stars.Secondly many unheralded Indian cricketers like Gony,Asnodkar,Wridhman Saha,Dinda,Goswami,Niraj Patel,Jadeja have drawn attention of the sports lovers & selectors.IPL, has given a new lease of life to Raina, Parthiv Patel & Badrinath.Thirdly, playing in these 20-20 over matches has exposed the limitations of our cricketing icons like Ganguly,Dravid,Kumble,Laxman, & Sachin.IPL has projected that these players are not fit for 20-20 matches, Sachin had a strike rate of 77.00, whereas Yusuf Pathan's strike rate is 185, that is why players like Pathan,Raina,Dhawan,Asnodkar, etc are the finds of this IPL in batting ,whereas, Gony,Dinda,Balaji find names amongst the bowlers.Hope good sense prevails & these oldies announce their retirement,at the earliest.Sachin has one of highest paid contract with BCCI, but is not available for representing India for 7/8 months in a year thru injury, which crops up frequentlyat his convenience, but he is always available for new advertising photo sessions, though officially he is in the injured list. A real nationalist.

Sachins the wolds highest earner in cricket,He deserves every bit of luxury because he has earned it for himself and also entertained us for nearly two decades, and he is one of those who makes us feel proud to be an indian!
He was contracted for approx 300 crores by an american company to oversee his sponsorship deals over several years! What does he stand to gain by pulling out of Bangladesh Series?, He probably looses out on couple of centuries and a chance to further better his record! After nearly two decades of playing for india like a champion he truly deserves his right to rest if he has injury, who are you to question his nationality related credentials?
regionalism and parochialism is the reason why we have been invaded for thousands of years and only 10,000 british soldiers ruled our 20 to 30 crore poeple for nearly three hundred years, even sachins maratha fans also retaliate in similar fashion which is rather unfortunate. Sachin Tendulkar is kohinoor of modern cricket and has a fan base amongst all cricket lovers accross the world and he is an indian first to the rest of the world, please dont forget that!.

Only Aussies performing
by Suraj Singh on Jun 01, 2008 11:35 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

After abusing them on the Bhajji episode, it will be an Aussie whi lifts the T20 Cup. Watson, Warne, Hussey are few examples of a system that produces good cricketers ( read: no politics). By the way, Australia has won the maximum Gold medals per capita in the Olympics.

India has yet to win one.

That's fine, but I'd invite you to seriously relook at the title of your comment.

I take it that you feel the following have recently taken up Aussie citizenship:

Asnodkar, Gony, Dinda, Raina, Gambhir, Sehwag, Jayasuriya, Dravid, Tanvir, Pathan, Takwale, Trivedi, Rawat.... and many more... :-)

No wonder Australian immigration is enraged... without their notice, you have conferred too many Aussie passports for their liking... ;-)

As to Olympic Golds, there are many countries who pick up Olympic golds, and many who don't... this is real world.

I don't think Bill Gates ever won an Olympic gold...

I think I made my point.

Angolmois you are Jealous about Chennai. You mentioning A.R. Rehman did all the music directors making music for God? All the music director in the India, not only india all over the world making money from music, I wonder you mentioning only Rehman. You are very very jealous about this great musician and i understand you are sad mood that nobody like rehman born in your state. And other one Did abusing takes place only in chennai? In all over india prostitution is going in public only in Mumbai and Kolkata. Last month in delhi a minor girl raped by an police man. Capital delhi is most famous for rapes that too minor girls rapes. In mumbai and kolkata minor girls are used for prostitution. If you have guts go there and destroy that prostitution places. Then i will bow my head to you.

Biggest Flop of IPL - Dravid
by Singha on Jun 01, 2008 11:08 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

dravid ensured that no big hitter from India like Robin Uthappa was selected in Bangalore team. He also kept big hitting mizba sitting in bench for a long time till Mallya took the knife out.

dravid made runs when the opposite team had already won...result - dravid made his average appear decent.

dravid's multiple failures both as a player and as a captain are the reason why RCs end up Royal Losers.

dravid is a shameless guy and is unlikel to listen.

Mallya would do well to take dravid out of Bangalore team as our national selectors have rightly done.

but @ what avg.? 26.4
Yet avg is the funniest thing that will mislead one to a fool. The classic example is Sehwag's avg. in the recent series against SA was over 60 but he failed in the 4 innings out of 5 played yet it mislead one (who merely looks into avg.) to believe he has a great avg.

Despite the misleading thing about avg. Dravid's avg. in the IPL exposes his limitations and proved him to be an unfit and undeserving player.

In any case T20 is all about ENTERTAINMENT that's why tickets are charged exhorbitantly (Rs. 1000 to Rs.12000 per head) and if he is not capable of providing entertainment then he don't deserve to be playing.

Yes you are right Dravid never deserved to play ODI at any time yet he played so many because of politics.
Dravid might have had the technique to score qickly as he showed sometimes which came more out of pressure to prove a point about himself rather than for his team, but has very poor attitude.

He had never played for the team and always played for himself
