Sharad Pawar watching 83 match vs Zimbabwe???
by Amol Mali on Apr 21, 2009 09:00 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

How can Sharad Pawar watch the match on TV when that day was a strike called by TV channels? I havent found even a single clip of Kapils 175 knock. If any one has come across it please let me know. Sharad Pawar must be bluffing.

The Fab Four From India No Good.
by manoj bhatia on Dec 29, 2008 01:06 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Its interesting to know that the Fab Four , Tendulkar, Ganguly , Laxman & Dravid have played together for almost a decade and have not been able to win one world cup for India in One Day Internationals. Tendulkar, Lara , Ponting , Gibbs, D'silva, Inzamam have been the most feared batsmen in the world. Only Inzamam, Ponting and D'silva could do it. The next world cup India has new Fab Four. Sehwag, Gambhir, Yuvraj and Dhoni . We have had a best bastmen in the world with the highest number of centuries, test runs , odi runs but the batsmen could not help India win a world cup. I know a lot of people would not agree with me but what good is it to have the best batsmen in the world for 18 years and no world cup. We did better when the original fab four were not present in the T20 world cup. Even the wall cracks during world cup.

I can't believe that you couldn't see that Sachin scored maximum number of runs in 2 World Cups (1996,2003)where as Ponting Inzamam played well in very few matches.Dravid was the top scoreer in 1999 World Cup.So we had people who scored the most in 3 world cups. Still their 'teams' won and not India. In the world cup that india won, nobody scored even half the runs that Sachin did. Still they won.
Conclusions:
1. A cricket team does not comprise of 1 player. So it is not possible for a single player to win even a single match, let alone the world cup.
2. Sometimes great players get stuck with fuckall teams and people like you get a chance to comment upon them. That's plain bad luck

It is amazing that your argument can be so stupid.
In the same line up, just look at the bowlers that Ponting. Inzmaan and De Silva had.
If you think you don't need bowlers to win games, you might as well go and watch gilli danda instead of displaying your lack of basic cricket knowledge in this blog.
Hope your brain starts thinking straight.

Indian win of 1983 World Cup
by Padmanabhan S on Jun 28, 2008 09:16 PM  Permalink

I watched the match on 25.06.1983. At exactly, 00.00 hours, India won the final. 26.06.1983 began then. It was my wedding day. I distinctly remember the post-match proceedings too. Kapil Dev spraying the champaign is the scene which is still alive in my memory. It was almost like a wedding day gift for me. I can never forget it. Again on 25.06.2008, I watched the highlights of the match, which also ended almost at zero hours.
But for Kapil, we would never have won the World Cup Final in 1983.

WHEN SHALL WE WIN NEXT ?
by baranikumar mahadevan on Jun 27, 2008 05:47 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Yes the victory was a matter of pride for India.

But................

How long are we going to keep harping on this??

For many years ??

Australia has been winning since 1999 - each and every World Cup.

Their first World Cup was in 1987.
Certainly they did not keep harping on their 1987 World Cup victory.

Instead they have been fiercely working on a team that performs consistently, made them train hard at all times, and focussed on winning every game they played and, focussed on winning every tournament they played.

Certainly they do not make their cricket players NATIONAL HEROES by worshipping them. None of them were given HUGE sums of money nor did they get huge endorsement money from companies. If present day Australians are now making money , it is from the Indian corporate sector not Australian businessmen.

Nevertheless they keep performing.

And we keep repeating memories of 1983

Even Brazil celebrate 50 yrs of victory of winning world cup footbal but see after that how many times that have won the world cup football. That is what the difference is between these two countries celebrating Silver Jublee. Shame on this kind of celebration

It is good to celebrate such hitoric win because of which our yongesters can get the good lesson out of that, why we celebrate our National Day or any other day to get some lesson out of that. It is good to celebrate that...
