Now I am presenting here a measure scale………………...

1. 0-19 (poor)(0)
2. 20-39 (average)(1)
3. 40-59 (above average)(2)
4. 60-79 ( good)(3)
5. 80 -99 (very good)(4)
6. 100 above( outstanding)(5)
all the points are in 5.

now we have to also consider his bowling performance.

who say sachin never perform in crucial matches?
For those who says that sachin never perfoms in crucial matches.I also write this thread before, but due to some probelm this thread is not on this community.this thread again representing due to world cup disaster.this thread stats are calculated after the tour of south africa in nov 2006.

First things what are crucial matches…
Crucial matches are those in which the situation is of type “do and die”.
in my opinion there are some type of crucial matches.

1. final
2. semi final
3. quarter final
4. when the series is of 7 matches and u are equal by 3-3 then the seventh match is crucial
5. when the series is of 7 matches and u are trail by 3-0 then the fourth match is crucial
6. when the series is of 7 matches and u are trail by 3-2 then the sixth match is crucial
7. when the series is of 7 matches and u are equal by 3-1 then the fifth match is crucial
8. when the series is of 6 matches and u are trail by 3-2 then the sixth match is crucial
9. when the series is of 6 matches and u are trail by 3-1 then the fifth match is crucial
10. when the series is of 5 matches and u r trail by 2-0 then the third match is crucial.
11. when the series is of 5 matches and u are equal by 2-2 then the fifth match is crucial
12. when the series is of 5 matches and u are trail by 2-1 then the fourth match is crucial because if u lose this match u lose the series

Dhoni will win 2011 WC for India singlehandedly!!
by Lalita Pawar Modi on Jun 04, 2008 09:18 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

MS Dhoni will singlehandedly win the WC for India in 2011 and also the ICC champions trophy in 2008.....

India will rule the cricketing world in ODIs and 20-20 for many years now...we have an invincible team now with Yousuf Pathan, Raina and Rohit Sharma knocking on the doors...in bowling we have Manpreet Goni, Munaf Patel and Sidahrth Trivedi if the frontline of Sreesanth, Zaheer and RP loses form.....

There is too much talent and this talent will ensure that no one will touch us now for a few years!!

3 cheers to Indian cricket and 3 cheers to Lalit Modi for coming out with such a wonderful innovative concept called IPL....

Dhoni should improve his qualities and to start to work for Indian team. Mainly, he is depending upon the other players to perfom. Ofcourse, he got money for his life time. Not like Sacin. But to remaining in the team, he is expected to do something in his own name. He should remember the opener srikanth is dropped from the team when he is top. Nowadays he is also not keeping the wikets as wicket keeper. Then constrate on the play. There are so many young bloods are waiting in queqe to find place in the Indian cricket team. beware Mr.Dhoni. Nobody bigger than game. Leave your ego, and learn to respect the seniors. wind will not always bow in one direction.

RE:Kapil missed Golden Chance in 1987 Reliance Cup !!!
by Bald Head on Jun 04, 2008 10:49 AM  Permalink
You only see or remember that Kapil lost his cool in 1987 semifinal against England in Mumbai.

But you are either not aware or do not remember the ugly politics by certain vested interests those days which first removed Kapil and brought in Sunny as captain (after the glorious 1983 WC win) and then went out of the way to ensure India's defeat to dethrone Kapil as captain again after 1987 WC.

If India would have won the 1987 WC, it would have been difficult for these behind the scene politikers to accomplish what they intended to. The victim was not just Kapil, but Team India and its numerous innocent fans.

This type of posting is to Insult Dhoni, when someone says Unrealistic stuff like this in favor of so and so its basically to invite abuse and insult for that player as it is such nonsense that Dhoni is going to do that.
Its like threads starting on how great Sachin is and is he a match winner and all that when the popular vote will go that he isnt a match winner and a choker and a selfish player.when people want to hear this they post Sachin the great blah blah

He's great man than any other captain India has produced(not a comparision)...during 80's with that kind of strike rate, not much modern techniques & resources, good fielding(which need to be admired especially in Indian team that too during 80's), & ofcourse the bowling...who has the skills with leadership qualities...forget about all these ...who has got the worldcup for India...other than GREAT KAPIL...our hero... & last but not least..they were not paid like these...not much money thru advertisements,.they worked hard to get & reach those kind of miles...it has to be SALUTED...than any other Indian players...(its the fact..not a comparision)...today..you play one cricket match score a 100(doesn't need to know bowling...& not much with fielding)...but still u will be a hero on/off the field (for nothing)...so being greatest during that period (80's) is greatest EVER....

"Gavaskar recalled that it was a match that India had to win to enter the semi-final" --

HUH? Was/Is Gavaskar out of his mind? Even if India had lost that game, they would have entered the Semi-final. In fact the Next game against Australia in which Yashpal Sharma scored 80 odd runs (if I remember correctly) was the crucial match ...

Had India lost the Zimbabwe match .. India would have ended with 12 points instead of 16 .. but Australia would still have been at 8 !!

But well .. this is not to take the credit away from Kapil - It is one of the greatest innings, if not the greatest ever, as mentioned by Gavaskar!

I think you are out of mind.
You can say now that it was OK if india had lost the ZIM match. Just for your info, on the same day (18 June) match between AUS & WI was on.. so points you are projecting now were not available during ZIM IND encounter. AUS lost and IND won on same day !! So while playing the match it was like do or die situation. Gavaskar was right in calling the innings the greatest OK?
Also, in the next match Y Sharam scored 40 not 80 as you wrote but he was the highest scorer !!!

Technically you are right ! But eventually that became a inconsequential match. Even had India lost to Zimbabwe we would have entered that semis, all other results remaining same. Granted, this was known only after the Aus-WI match and not during when Kapil was batting.

When somebody calls it a "Must win" or "Do or Die" it means that "If you lose You are out!" .. Aus Vs WI match might be on that day .. but India still had a chance to enter the Semis even after the loss ... in other words ZIMBABWE MATCH WAS NOT THE DECIDING FACTOR .. but it was the match against the Australia ...

AND ONE MORE THING ..

IMAGINE THE SCENARIO .. IF INDIA HAD LOST TO AUSTRALIA EVEN AFTER THEY HAVE BEATEN ZIMBABWE ..
Both the teams would have been at 12 and Aus would have entered the Semis by virtue of a better run rate ...

So, once again, the MUST WIN match was agaisnt AUS not agaisnt ZIM

You are absolutely right ! This match was an inconsequential one, the next against Autralia was the decider. But we Indians romanticise everything. So, when Kapil played that heroic knock of 175 n.o. from being down 17 for 5, we had to glorify it by making it (and incorrectly so) a do or die match, which it was not. That said, Gavaskar is right in saying that was the best one day innnings ever played, though due to the BBC crew strike we do not have a footage of that.

Yes I do agree about that innings .. I swtiched the radio off when the score was 3 down for 5 .. with Gavaskar and Srikkanth gone for Ducks and Amarnath for 5. When I switched it on again it was 5 down ... I joked with my Dad about Kapil hitting a Century and winning the match for India and he said he would give me 100 bucks if that happened .. hehe .. he still owes me that 100 though :)

Kapil was great but .....

I was a great fan of Kapil and simply brilliant given the circumstances in which this innings he has scored - even after he was accused for match-fixing by Manoj Prabhakar, I did not believe.

But he supported Azhar after Azhar was banned for life for match fixing. I wondered why Kapil who never had good relationship with Azhar (just like Gavaskar) crying wolf for someone guility - maybe he was too! I wish he was not, but it got covered up. And his acquaintance with some bookie in SA only added smoke to fire.

Well - its all non-sense to blame BJP & RSS b'cas Azhar was a Muslim (though I don't like BJP or communal RSS). Its fact that Azhar was heavily involved so did Jadeja, Prabhakar, etc & they were duly punished like Cronje & Salim Mallik. There were so many muslims who played for India with dignity and pride (like Kirmani) & several others playing now.

Its easier to use religion to get out of one's sin because that seemed to be the only choice with all other options against them.
