Perhaps in Australia, the law works differently. You are guilty until proven innocent. Or maybe this is true when the accused is of Indian origin. This is not the first time though - we have all heard and read about doctor Mohammed Haneef. I feel sad for immigrants of Indian origin, living their lives in Australia.

Yes, clearly people of Indian origin in India should be felt sorry for - that would explain why they are migrating here in their thousands, then encouraging their brothers, sisters, cousins, parents and other relatives to move here to enjoy what must be a horrible place.
PS - I'm of Indian origin living in Australia. PPS - Proctor is applying ICC regulations, not Australian law - Australians don't agree with the decision based on the currently disclosed evidence, hence our request for full disclosure PPPS - build a bridge
The basic point that you brought out about proper governance of the game is really the main issue that needs to be addressed with speed (not Malcom) and wisdom. This to me is the tru enemmy of the game that can destroy the 98 years of 'playing cricket' - the gentleman's game. Keep on brandishing your pen Prem. Boromor Dias
I see that this post - 'be fair' - misses the point that Prem is making. I am not defending Prem, I am sure that he is able to do that himself. Although I do agree with everything he says.
The fact the BCCI is standing up for one of its players is commendable as should every board stand behind its players. In this respect, I have only read a few lines about Cricket Australia supporting its Captain, never mind, its players. It's been busy trying to save the tour, which, if I take a cynical view, would be because of the financial loss it would suffer if India decided that it will stand up to what amounts to bully boy tactics and refuse to play any further part.
Just one other point, I would love to see what happens to Brad Hogg next week. I understand that the evidence is similar to Bhajji's, ie, evidence from players as opposed to independent corroboration or to put it simply, evidence from an independent source such as audio or video recording. Bhajji's charge was decided on a 'I said/he said' basis (which stinks of bias). I wonnder how Hogg's charge will be decided? On recent form, I'd say he will get off scot free.
Oh and one more thing, I agree that calling Symonds 'monkey' is unacceptable but I wonder if calling anyone else's parentage into question is?
You see, I for one think that sledging has no place in cricket. Honesty is central to appealing when you know its not out and walking when you know you are. You are either honest in both or not. Si

i would like to know why you think hogg is going to go scott free..why should one doubt that if there is proof why one would be let scott free..what prompts you to think that way..when u yourself know that there are proofs..why this scepticism...
Had india really wanted to rule criclet . They cud have done it anytime.. NO other country cud have ever hosted a world cup ever .
Actually all aisan countries ( Ind , Pak , SriLanka , Bangladesh) shud raise a voice and stand together against the discrimination in cricket . When AUS , ENG , NZ can refuse to play in pak during world cup why cant India refuse to play in AUS .

well if the whites dont play in any place and if they say against it..then we indians wont have any one to play against...i am sure u dont watch india bangladesh, or india srilanka the way u watch india australia...you remeber good cricket you dont want to see india kenya, india zimbabwe, india UAE, india nepal or the whole of third world countries...if the few whites who do play cricket leave cricket then it wont be the same again...for them we are like the untouchables...so better let them rule and india win the games...

Exactly ashish.. we must get rid of this slave mentality and stand up for ourselves. India,Pakistan,Sri Lanka and Bangladesh MUST break away from ICC and start a domestic league. That way the money paid by people of the region (directly and indirectly) will stay in the subcontinent

friend...i get this from the people around me..and there are not many people like you..so until there are more people like you we are still in third world.. 70% in the rural with out basic aminities and 30% in urban...1.5lakh farmers doing suicide and billionaires are up from 26 to 48 in couple of years..what does that show.. are we part of G7 countries if not third world..to console we are better than many other countries...but that doesnt warrent a place in G7
Not saying that you are right and Bob is correct. I think you are over the top here in defending India. The recent developments are significant, no amount of patch up is going to fix the issue. Can anyone, BCCI, CA, ICC or anyone assure me the next test at Perth will be played cleanly in the right spirit of the game? I don't think it is possible since there are too many players who don't understand the meaning of sportsman spirit. The best thing to do right now is to pull out and come back, so that the relationship between the two countries are left the way it is and anticipate that it doesn't get worsen. Going ahead with the tour is just going to add to the bad blood and create extraordinary drama. I'm sure that is what media is looking for. Besides the public, does anyone care for Honor and integrity?

since its in australia, they should extend the courtesy and stop sledging. lets see if they can do it.
The BCCI is using strong arm tactics with the ICC. I love that. Why should we care whether it is fair or not? The Aussies win at all cost to the spirit of the game. We are just taking it to the next level. If the Aussies can be bullies on the field, we are just being bullies outside the field. We can use our financial power to stamp out the Aussies... its all fair game.

icc is no saint. they are eng aus mostly. they will fight tooth and nail to beat india. everytime indians raise a protest, they say india is trying to use its powers. if india has any , its time to use it
Mike Proctor banned Rashid Latif for falsely claiming a catch against Bangladesh. Ridley Jacobs was banned for stumping Sehwag and claiming his wicket in a match in Zimbabwae in a tri-series. The ball was in his left hand and he stumped Sehwag with the right hand.
Show the same standards and ban ponting and clarke.
And which people aren't racist?? Is calling myself tall dark and handsome a racist thing.
I think what McGrath told Sarwan was bad..he was asking for trouble, but he couldn't handle what he dished out when he got it back.. Sarwan was reprimanded..
Sehwag banned for excessive appealing.. Lee and Ponting only quietly ask questions of umpires.. is that right???
RE:Racism by Indians???
by Michael Mammen on Jan 09, 2008 05:09 AM Permalink
I'm tiring of this but here goes nothing.
Proctor banned Latif for diving in front of slip, dropping the ball in mid-air, picking it up off the ground thinking the umpires couldn't see and then claiming the catch.
You're honestly trying to compare when Ponting had the ball in his hand the whole time (even though I agree it was not a catch because the ball touched the ground before he had full control of his own body as required by the rules)?
One more to add. The real bad apple in Ponting's team is that guy with a child's face, touted as the next captain, Michael Clarke. God save Australia, if this guy is to become their captain one day. Hopefully, he will learn to respect the game, by then. This Aussie Team misses a coach like Buchanan who kept them on the game. Now, the wild pack is cut loose and doesnt know from right and wrong!
Let us focus on the main issue here. India couldnt play 46 overs in the last session to defend the match. That is a fact that cannot be denied. Even given that Ganguly and Dravid were given out wrong, can one call it a test side if it cant defend 46 hours ? Come on, what does it take to remain not out if you dont have to score any runs? Just stay put buddy.
Yuvraj should be obviously thrown out of the team. So should Dhoni be.
Let us focus on Indian's team pathetic performance for a change. Harbhajan's ban happened after the test match got over. We Indian are good at obfuscating all issues and politicizing them.
But the fact remains that inspite of a good first Innings team, Indians played pathetically on the last day.
Prem Panicker better concentrate on that. Pawar of course will concentrate on politics.

Looks like Samir does not know what cricket is. In the cricket not all batsmen do good performance in every inning. To defeat a team all you have to do is by hook or crook remove the 2 good batsmen from the crease and whole team will tumble down. Australians are not capable to take all ten wickets so they use wicked ways and use corrupt/incompetant umpires to out the batsmens. Sam

Mr. Prashant, everytime India loses, it is the umpires fault or bad luck. I have never heard people like you saying that the other team played better. You are worse than Bucknor. It is people like that India cannot win a single medal in Olympics because we talk only of cricket. The olympics is not far away and it is in China, but is anyone talking anyting about it .. No... Its a shame that we have people like you in India...

hiya sameer,
Well u r right when u ask cant the indian team play 46 overs.however if 2 of ur top batsmen are given out just because the otehr team wants to win at all cost, man i tell u no one , not even the aussies would have doen better. U know jsut one last thing, If India had won this match in a similiar fashion- i tell u man i would have hated to be called an indian.the aussie's are cheats, arrogant liers who cannot accept someone playing equally gr8 game. sameer my friend its time that we Indians dont take nonsense from the world. If u dont have Pride u dont have anything.they are targeting harbhajan and we indians atleast today dont have to take it. we can only become a super power if we beleive we can and be proud to be Indians.
