Well Said Kumble!
by indira on Apr 30, 2008 12:10 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Well said Kumble! Kumble's maturity shows in his writing. As he says, some of our young players need counselling on how to handle fame and money. Why can't the youngsters take a leaf from the books of senoirs like Kumble, Sachin Laxman and Dravid to learn how to handle fame and money without damaging one's reputation?

Because they think they are bigger and better than the seniors. I guess most of the youngsters will not be seen in the team by next year.

The after math of Harbhajan- Sreesanth fight brought me to comment on Mr. Gentleman Kumble. Yes Kumble saab well said. Education is the best wealth- best insurance. But the sad side evolving cricket fame & wealth today is many of todays cricketers are from heartland belts with lesser education with fast track to wealth. A 19 year old just out of 2 is getting 60 Lakhs a year Thanks to IPL. no one grudges their wealth. But I fault the system & BCCI& state associations for not investing in developing these ambassadors of India or future ambassadors to be well rounded by investing in education. In education I mean outside the cricket field & a in class room with crash professional development courses in soft skills- personal grooming, Intra personal skills & people skills, cutural sensitivity education, cross cultural management skills learnt in a expreience sharing basis. Just short intense courses of 2-3 days- will do. For example place the unlike minded group of wannbe & current test players in a class for transactional analysis (TA) course to know who they really are ! Many can be taught in Hindi even if many of the new comers do not know gorra saab language. Make this learning compulsory for all first class level cricketers; not just Text players for international. Even club level & Ranji level. This value add will do a world of good to them, U will not have incidents like Bhaji selling india pride in Australia or Mohali or sreesanths swearing at all. I recall in 60s &

Any sport involves aggression & energy may be they are reqd. However which sport today whether its football, rugby ,tennis or even carrom has all literate players . Srinath & Kumble are engineers lucky enough to get a break & come out with flying colours .Our owm Lalchand Rajput was the best Ranji player with a super record . Today even though he performed as a super coach in Australia where has perseverence & literacy taken him (at a sport level). We also have a most tolerent Laxman who
2 me has been the most unluckiest of all time players - A SLAP to BCCI

Some people in the team and BCCI could not tolerate the fact that a Sikh was getting so much limelight. Especially after the Australia & South Africa series Bhajji was a Hero. Some ppl could not tolerate a Sikh guy's success, so a plot was hatched to bring him down. Bhajji's mistake was that he fell into their trap easily. Bhajji dosent know that for which country he is even willing to give up his life, the ppl of that country hate him because of his being a sikh.

Hey, your judgement seems ill-adviced by a narrow view of a sportperson. Do not ever forget the truth that a sportsperson does not belong to any community. Only people like you tend to compare them in the eyes of community.

It is understandable that the community to which a good sportsperson belongs to rejoice more than others. But, it does not mean that they would not do so when a sportsperson becomes a pride of a nation, whichever community he belongs to.

Lastly, a good sportsperson means not just the playing skills he possesses, he also becomes a role model for all younsters and should display humility, understanding, ethics and morality. Thew name SPORTS characterises just these and nothing else! People like you give different meanings and that hurts.

Sreesanth let off because
by jv on Apr 30, 2008 12:05 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Sreesanth was let off because he belongs to the influential south indian brahmin community, where as Bhajji belongs to a small minority community. This is the whole reason for severe punishment to Bhajji. His being a Sikh is his biggest crime.

Harbajan is no saint and he should have been punished more severely may be with one year ban. Do you mean to say he was let off lightly earlier because of his community. Come on Grow up !

Dont write such rubbish things without knowing anything. Bhajji deserve (also sreeshant badly deserves this slap).
When BCCI bailed out Bhajji in Australia, did you tell anything like "Bhajji is from North India so, Sharad Pawar supported him".
People like you need some urgent counselling for keeping such mentality.

jv please leave your email id or place where you come from... you are such a big nuts I guess..

this is against no sikhs..who are known to be brave generally and not as stupid as bhajji is...

remember the indian army has a sikh regiment and a gurkha regiment... the only ones named after a particular community...

not because sikhs are stupid or whatever... dont try to communalise a single person's act to the whole community...

having said that the braveness in PM Manmohansingh is terribly missing... especially in the case of the recent T R Balu incident...

so in all it has got nothing to do with communities... just the individual
