Every one is loving to take a shot on BCCI for appointing Dhoni as Captain of Indian Cricket Team. I wont interrupt their fun. But from what I have analysed, once Dravid resigned from captaincy, there was hardly any other feasible choice left. Had BCCI sacked Dravid and replaced him by Dhoni, the decision wud had been questionable, but here it was Dravid who himself opted out. After that, whatever we may think, there was not really much choice. Tendulkar had, over the years, repeatedly refused the post, and by his own statement,he is no more interested in playing all one days. Under any case BCCI wud had been labelled pro-maratha if he was selected. Ganguly, on other hand, is batting beautifully, and captaincy might have spoilt that again-a greater loss to team than expected gain. Yuvi, a prospective captian, has been a disappointing failure, both on and off the field, consiering the time and opportunity he got. Sehwag and Kaif, two more of potential stalwarts, fail to find even a place in the team. So what was the choice B? After all BCCI had to select a captain and Dhoni is first among equals in the meager no. of options left. True, he is inexperienced, he is imperfect, he does lack technique, but he is still better than powar, uththappa, gambhir, and chopra in experience atleast. We all know, the fate of next series will depend not on his captaincy but on forms of Tendulkar, Ganguly, Dravid. So..Cool down chaps!

I think you read the situation well.
Also I thought another reason for Dravid stepping down, may have been his analysis that we need somebody to score big in the coming months against Pak and Australia. I don't think it is possible for us to bowl out Australia for under 500 consistently, so we have to score over 500 consistently. With no top order batsman looking likely to score 150s in the current set up (including Tendulkar, Ganguly, and Dravid (with captaincy pressures)), I think Dravid took it upon himself to perform the job of scoring big (150s and 200s), which he is more likely to do without the captaincy pressures. There are surely a lot of other factors in his resigning the captaincy, but this is one of the first advantages that happened to flash through my mind. Just a thought.
Dhoni is form Afridi School of cricket. These type of cricketers do not have fundamental knowledge or technique to play the game. They go by muscle power. They play a good innings once in a while. In fact their good innings are few and far between. Captains should set example by the skill and dedication. They must succeed when others fail in an innings. This just shows the sorry state of Indian cricket. Many want to axe Dravid, Sachin and Sourav. I just wonder what will happen if they get their wish. Dhoni is not even the best wicket keeper.

hey dude we know thatfor u it is more important to be technical rather than scoring runs.u need to go n check your mental status before watching a match n most of all before writing such a crap.
No need to pay attention to the fact that Dhoni is made captain. Cricket is played by 11 persons. A win is equally creditable to all the 11 members (in fact 14) of the team. India doesn't need any captain or coach.
RE:What's there in captaincy...after all Its a 11 person's game ..

It should be given to worst player among the playing eleven since our captains have record of playing bad while they are captains.
This jokers have once again done a big joke of crocet in India by this kind of selection of captain and team. Yuvi is a better choice any time than Dhoni. Also its a surprise that without giving any chance to Irfan Pathan's brother Yusuf Pathan in 20-20 his name is ommitted from the list. How this selectors are going to decide the future of Indian creicket and cricketers. Dear new cricketers go to ICL...thats the only choice.
The BCCI is a bunch of losers and they have proved it by selecting Dhoni as the captain!!
Sourav Ganguly is the only heavyweight guy who you need to get under the skin of the Aussies!! Remember how he got under the skin of STeve Waugh by going late for the toss on a few ocassions?? Dada could play mind games and you do need to play mind games to unsettle the Aussies....
Certain selections also raise a few eyebrows; what are Poiwar and Karthick doing in the team?? As far as i'am concerned, Ramesh Powar and Dinesh Karthick should not be in the ODI team!! Karthick failed completely, both as a fielder and as a batsman in the recent England ODIs!!
By excluding Sehwag and young Rohit Sharma, the selectors have conveyed that they are still whimsical and foolish!!
The only good thing about this team is the axing of Munaf and Agarkar, both of who don't deserve a look-in again......
But the exclusion of Rohit Sharma is an unfair one considering the fact that the youngster never got his chances recently!!

This is crap...that kid is being given priority just because he made more advertisements than Yuvraj did. This is insane. I agree with you Ravi...Yuvraj should have been made captain.

If This is true, let me have some more details let me file a public interest case against BCCI. This curruption is eating India and there need to be done better by dsgracing these old people dying for money.
Do any of you think that current regime of BCCI could have done anything good for cricket? It's God's grace that Sehwag is consistently out of form, otherwise they were about to choose him.
They don't need a firm captain like Ganguly or Yuvraj, neither they want to look into possibilities in Uttupa or Kartik. Have you seen lots of possibilities in Dhoni as a captain in the current venture going on? But our bunch of jokers seen one more to get ruined and dancing over their fingers.
They are still going low over the management and will make a joke of Indian cricket soon. I hope that there are still some fools to get cheered over the same. I am not :(

I don't think he is captain material and he has a record of lack of discipline. Can't help it but Gangulay is the only sane person to lead right now in that now.

Actually our BCCI wants some body to Dance on their tune that is the reason they 1st opted for Sachin and when got -ve reply then opted for Dhoni as he is very new and can dance on BCCI tune like puppet and this is the only reason they didn't approch for Ganguly as he will never dance to their tune as he is a leader.
Rediculous BCCI is saying that they need future captain so Dhoni is their only choice then why did they approach Tendulkar First and if so then why didn't they approach Ganguly as its always a fact, let our bunch of jokers (BCCI led by monkey Sharad Paear) denied the fact Saurav is the most successful Captain India had ever got.
