Cylinder & a Rod in Indian cricket team
by Mohmmed Jaffer on Sep 17, 2007 12:22 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This is an observation that all ...Kars of BCCI have brought in shame to Indian cricket.
Dirty cylinder which can't run - Romesh Powar
Thin Rod which can't peirce into- Ajit Agarkar
We know what happens at the end...
Somehow these players get quota of selection in Indian cricket.. and we fools pray for the team to win. Look at the other parts of the country..there are stronger and even stongest folks don't get a chance..

Rediff, you have disspointed a lot of cricket lovers by the title of this piece. It gives the impression that Borde has lashed out at Dravid. rediff please display some responsibility.

That is your problem Mr Doshi. In olden days, telegram means 'death news' especially for villages. If somebody days, there is telegram for you, it is said, the whole family will start crying without reading the contents of the telegram. YOur case seems to be somethat similar.

You read between the lines and made your own conclusion after reading the headings. that is not rediff's problem

Cricket Politics
by radio mirchi on Sep 17, 2007 12:15 PM  Permalink

It is unfortunate in Indian cricket everything smells politics starting from selection process of team, coach and even captain. Most of the things seems to happen on a regional basis than merit. One pretty simple example could be that of Agarkar, who was a total waste in England ODI, still found a place in T20, I suspect because of Mumbai lobby. And in both T20 games his performance was pathetic, we almost lost against Pak due to his penultimate over.

I think even this resignation drama is enacted by BCCI i.e Vengasarkar & Co to make the worst Indian captain ever, i.e Tendulkar as captain again. I think Tendulkar has already proved as a best batsman in cricket but his captaincy was the worst. So the Mumbai lobby seems to improve his records as captain before he retires so that the blemish will be removed. As such I feel Dravid is forced to resign to give way for Tendulkar.Unfortunately the Indian public has to carry this burden of regional politics in cricket. Even the public is devided on regional basis. Benaglis want Ganguly as captain, Marathis want Tendulkar and few Kannada people even want Kumble as captain. What a pathetic state of affairs.

And the sufferer will be our most favorite game-Cricket.

As such Dravid's records as captain in both forms of the game seems to pretty good except for the WC debacle

Ait Agarkar the Super Talent of Int'l Cricket and the toast of the Mumbai Cricket fraternity is a boon to the national team. His spirited and consistent performances are well ahead of people like, Kapil Dev, Bedi, Vishy, Gavaskar and even Sachin. The way Agarkar bowls can put even people like Walsh and Lilee to shame.
His batting prowess is a treat to watch......
He is a allrounder par excellence way ahead of even Sobers..........

Hail Agarkar hail........Dont Even think of retiring coz retirement age in India is 60 years. And you are the only permanent employee our there...........GO and make money honey...............You are the best you are the great

Added to it Agarkar was able to tie the match agaist Pak by gifting 17 runs his penultimate spell and we could all see the first bowl out in cricket. He will in team for ever to entertain all of us with his great batting, fielding and bowling. He is definitely the worlds best allrounder even at the age of 29.

Dravid has been a successful captain in winning...
by Josyula Murthy on Sep 17, 2007 12:10 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

If you look at the records, Dravid has 53.17% of winning the ODIs that he captained !!!. Ganguly has winning percentage of 51.7% and Sachin just has 33%. Dravid has been the best captain India ever had!!!. It is a bitter truth that many cannot digest!!. Dravid has more average score as captain than score as non-captain!!. It is all North/Pawar's Drama to push out the successful captain.

Sachin had Betters not batters like Azhar, Jadeja, Mongia, Prabhakar in his team. And other useless players from Karnataka during the Gunappa lobbying days.. What do you expect?
That 30% is the matches Sachin won single handedly by captaining those crooks. Goes to show sachin is the best..

The stat proves beyond doubt Dravid has better percentage win i.e 53 than Ganguly and Tendulkar. Even in tests he won overseas tours like West Indies after 35 years and England after 21 long years. He and Ganguly captained the won series against Pak. He is the first Indian captain to win a test against SA.
Even in 21 test matches won by Ganguly Dravid scored neary 23 percent of runs at a record breaking rate of 102.which is a world record by itself.
