Cricket Politics
by radio mirchi on Sep 17, 2007 12:15 PM

It is unfortunate in Indian cricket everything smells politics starting from selection process of team, coach and even captain. Most of the things seems to happen on a regional basis than merit. One pretty simple example could be that of Agarkar, who was a total waste in England ODI, still found a place in T20, I suspect because of Mumbai lobby. And in both T20 games his performance was pathetic, we almost lost against Pak due to his penultimate over.

I think even this resignation drama is enacted by BCCI i.e Vengasarkar & Co to make the worst Indian captain ever, i.e Tendulkar as captain again. I think Tendulkar has already proved as a best batsman in cricket but his captaincy was the worst. So the Mumbai lobby seems to improve his records as captain before he retires so that the blemish will be removed. As such I feel Dravid is forced to resign to give way for Tendulkar.Unfortunately the Indian public has to carry this burden of regional politics in cricket. Even the public is devided on regional basis. Benaglis want Ganguly as captain, Marathis want Tendulkar and few Kannada people even want Kumble as captain. What a pathetic state of affairs.

And the sufferer will be our most favorite game-Cricket.

As such Dravid's records as captain in both forms of the game seems to pretty good except for the WC debacle
